What makes you think I will listen to you when you use snide remarks as yours. Why dont you rad a book if you can pull yourself away from the television set. Doesnt saound too nice does it mate. No doubt I have read the bible more than ye all. I have alot of information on the gospels more than Majority of christians. As you can tell by my questions, if you think about it. keep your snide remarks to yourself, you may get better results. Read your bible, so as to learn what Paul and Peter have to say about your method of communication. Be respectfull, or be a hypocrite. choice is yours my friend.

You say 'Perhaps' I said so you are saying you dont know. its ok if you dont know, i dont know. people believe many things. My question is more like this, if you could travel back in time and ask jesus "what is the gospel" what would he say. I dont think he would say "You must believe I died for your sins" because that would mean he is lying. Also it doesnt stress that in the gospels as being the words of Jesus. so what was the Gospel for jesus. I know it means 'Good news', still what was it according to Jesus.

Jesus taught that the Kingdom of Heaven is within you. That is the good news. You have direct access to God and you do not need intermediaries (rabbis, priests, etc.) to intercede for you. God is ever present in and around you. That is the Gospel.

Jesus did not say preach the gospel, Jesus did not even tell people to babtise others into the faith. He did say that by our example would we bring in converts. He told the seventy to tell other faithful that their Savior had come and that if their message was rejected to shake the dust from their shoes when leaving the area so they would not be contaminated. Where do you think the five thousand came from when he taught the sermon on the mount? Read the Gospels yourself, there only four short books. Take you maybe an evening if you can turn off your television?Be very careful with the rest of the new testament, God is indeed faithful, he did not make us wait and wonder who the anti-christ maybe.

I don't know that you can cite a group of words from Jesus to answer your question. My advice is to look at the complete ministry and teachings of Jesus and discern what out of it is truly good news. Is it eternal life? Is it freedom from a life of sin? Is it the clarity of the law summed up in two commandments? Is it perhaps each of these and more?

To think we can grab a phrase or two of Jesus' and summerize the good news is, imo, quite a stretch. Rather, I believe that the good news of Jesus', while revealed in Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, is still being revealed and understood, and, I imagine, it will always be.

Reply to questioner:
Quite the opposite; I'm saying that perhaps all of what Jesus said may be good news. Newer revelations and insights to deeper meanings of what Jesus said may be good news.

As far as what is preached today... well, that's as diverse as humankind itself. Unfortunatly, Jesus' words are used for evil as well as good, but such is always the case... Love is a powerful thing, and when that power gets corrupted it can result in that which is far from love.

What makes it good news or not is how we share it. A humble, sincere, and gracious delivery of that news will result in something good. An arrogant, judgemental, and malicious delivery will result in news that is probably bad in more ways than one.

Reply 2: It's not that I don't know. It's that it may not be exactly the same to each and every person. For me, it's the hope of eternal life, the freedom from sin, the increased closeness to God, the fufillment of the Hebrew Scriptures, and much much more. But that's what it is to me. It may not be that to someone else, including Jesus himself. I can not tell you what Jesus would say it was with any certainty because Jesus never said, "The gospel is _____________ ." Even then, that would be the author's contribution which may or may not be biased. Threrefore the only thing I can conclude is that it is contained within His ministry and His teachings.

All of this said, I suppose I don't know what Jesus would say, but, in all honesty, could anyone? In light of such inevitable ignorance, I simply do my best to trust, question, grow, understand, and hope.

There is one last thing I want to say. I think whatever Jesus would say would indeed be good news to anyone who wanted to hear it.

Gospel means the good news, and the good news is that Jesus loves you.
Jesus is the way and the truth and the life, no one will enter to the Father's house except thorugh Him. He does not want to lose anyone, but He will respect your free will in the end.
Paul tells how to become a Christian, and James goes to detail how to go about after you have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior.

Wasn't the Good News about God's Kingdom? Jesus talked alot about his Father's Kingdom.Even the Lord's prayer was based on his Father's Kingdom.

Jesus knew He was going to be crucified. That is why He told the disciples to spread the gospel. To go into the world two by two and spread the word of salvation. There was never any doubt in Jesus' mind that he was going to die for our sins.

The gospel is the sacrifice of Christ to redeem man. Because of his gret Love, he took the punishment for our sins. John 3:16

1Co 15:1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
1Co 15:2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
1Co 15:3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures;
1Co 15:4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the Scriptures:
