We don't "allow" it now... for some reason our laws aren't enforced. If our boarders aren't locked down our country is doomed in one fashion or another. If the politicians don't close the boarders there is likely to be a grass roots revolt.

The problem is that the United States comes from many different angles. The forces behind immigration at the moment are not citizens of the united states but businessess of the united states.
So it depends on which way the politicians flow.
If politicians maintain their association with business, especially concerning laws then the federal government will never deny open immigration. The only reason why the recent bill that would have killed immigration got to the floor is because the old american checks and balances system worked out. The representatives of the house represent smal districts. Traditionally, politicians of the house are mroe eager to pass legislation against business , because the districts are too small to evade public protest, unlike national and state campaigns. Thus, when an overwhelming majority of united states citizens from these groups:european american, african american, native american, cried out for an end of immigration, the house spoke. The senate killed it of course, but the senate requires the hispanic vote. Most representatives deal with unicultural political entities. So do I agree that the united states should continue open immigration.
No, but I give a reason why and a plan to repair the real problem.
the reason is that immigration is used by business to curtail the labor force here. Without immigration, business have to change the way they do business from global to national style. Meaning, without immigration they have to bring jobs back from overseas, they have to start paying people more. most immigrants do not join unions in the same fashion that the prior three I spoke of do. This is a labor problem, that immigration through businessess practices perpetuates.
Now, the real problem is foreign countries. I never hear in the immigration debate the nature of countries immigrants come from.
I have a question, why is it mexico does not have a social welfare program. The two richest latin americans are mexican yet mexico has no social welfare programs. You see, I do not blame the mexican immigrant for coming here because if I lived in mexico I would leave too. And that is the problem. Why is it, that inda with all of its tech business, still have people whose homes are destroyed every raining season, since they live in the overflow areas. Many countries do not treat their people right and they do that because they know that america is always their to accept them. But , if america closed its doors. I guarantee, sooner or later, the mexico's, india's, china's. nigeria's, serbia's, of the world would start to actually be worthy of the title republic, by taking care of their own people. So,close the door and start forcing nations to be accountable for their own nationals.

well we are not SUPPOSED to be allowing it in the first place. So it is not a question of agreeing that we are doing the right thing now or not, it is a question of enforcing the laws we already have it place and maybe cut a little of the red tape for foreigners who really want to get into the country in the first place. In no way should any country have an open border; this is just unsafe and creates havoc on the administration part of the country (how to keep track of such a thing!). The needs to allow people into the country that will benefit and strengthen the country while wanting to become Americans. The two problems I have is we are not choosing the best people to enter the country and the people who are coming in do not want to melt into American culture. If one wishes to come to America for its benefits and freedom than they shouldn't bring their country of origins flags and hang them with more pride than our flag.

The United States doesn't allow open immigration right now as we speak. They just don't enforce their own border policies.

What exactly do you mean by open immigration laws, obviously you have not tried to get any documents from Uscis....if you had then you would know there is nothing open about it. They make it so hard that this is the reason they come undocumented.!!!

We don't 'allow' open immigration and we should enforce our laws. So no. The strain on our schools and health care is too great, and our own people need those funds.

The U.S does not have open immigration and most likely will never, because many people oppose the coming of "different" kinds of people not born in the U.S. Which I do not oppose because some of the smartest people come from other countries. Their educational systems are better, but not free of charge.
