Those who are claiming that Biblical wine was not alcoholic, or that being drunk is sinful have clearly not read the Bible.
Noah owned a vineyard, he got naked and drunk, yet God said he was righteous and should be the savior of mankind.
If getting naked and drunk was so sinful, why did God pick this man to continue the human race? If you believe Genesis and the Bible we are all in some way descended from Noah and his family.
The only people who claim that drinking alcohol is wrong are people who have twisted the message in the Bible to serve their own purposes.

I have no idea. In the Bible is says not to be drunk. But Jesus made wine at the wedding feast and drank wine at the Last Supper. Perhaps they don't think they can drink without being drunk or perhaps they just don't want to invite trouble. But it's not a sin to drink.

legalistic idiots? They are still living under a law that they made up... how sad...
The issue is self control, so its not really about being drunk, but about being in control. Also, it doesn't say that the wine was unfermented. If Jesus did make wine that was fermented and allowed others to sin by getting drunk, then locigally it would follow that jesus would be sinning by offering himself on a cross which means that other people would have to sin by murdering him? no.
These are instructions that are there for our benefit.

look into the way wine is made. there became no "grape juice" again then because there became no thanks to reap grapes with out having some fermentation from the approach, almost continuously from the exterior. the end result's "new wine" which isn't very alcoholic, yet IS alcoholic on some factor. So there is no way that the wine Christ drank wasn't alcoholic. The question is how alcoholic, how fermented, or no matter if it became all new-wine, which does no longer were very alcoholic.

It never says in the bible that Christ drank wine. He turned water into wine, but it is uncertain whether he drank it or not. I don't think the religions believe drinking alcoholic drinks are a sin, it is over indulging in it in a way that leads to alcoholism. This causes one to worship an alternate "God", because alcohol becomes so highly important in one's life. In any instance. If we over indulge in something, whether it be alcohol, food, television, etc... and we ignore what is really important, we are sinning.

It's what comes from too much alcohol that makes it a sin. Not all people that put alcohol to their lips , are sinners. I don't care what "denomination" you are. You are a human being first. I have heard that some churches tell their congregation what foods to eat (inexpensive) , to keep more money coming to the church.I personally, eat what I want. It's food.(everybody talking about the Bible.....it's many persons interpretations! )o.k. now we're into "fermenting" If COWS eat fermented figs they get drunk too ! It's a natural thing ! Moderation.......

because my unlearned friend jesus never drunk fermented wine
first do you believe that drunkeness is a sin? ok if so good cause the word says it is, (gal 5 is one place) also do you believe Jesus ever sinned? no good cause the word of God states Jesus was sinless, now for the wedding feast wine to be fermented in John 2 that would mean Jesus contributed to the drunkeness of many and that is sin! Also the word of God declared in Leviticus that priest were to abstain from alcohol. Jesus was the great high priest. so on earth he drank unfermented wine called the fruit of the vine. also proverbs 31 states that its not for kings to drink wine and the word in revelation says we are kings so you do the rest

Fist of all I don't think that the "wine" or "fruit of the vine" that Jesus drank was firmented. There are different levels of firmentation.
It's not really the drinking of wine that is a sin. The bible even says to take a little wine for thy stomach's sake.
but it is being given to wine. In other words being a drunk.
If you're drinking alchohol just to get drunk it is a sin.
Wine is good for you cholesterol and your stomach if taken in moderation. I have heard that in Italy, they even allow their children to take a little wine. And Italians have one of the lowest cholesterol rates because of it. But If you abuse it , it is not good for you. Anything that is not good for the body ( which is refered to in the bible as the temple of God) drugs, alchohol, smoking, defiles the temple and is a sin.

Some denominations just don't know what the Bible teaches while other denominations have what's know as a "holiness tradition" where they think that believers shouldn't do things like drink coffee or alcohol or smoke cigarettes or anything else that might somehow "pollute" the temple of the Holy Spirit.
Drunkeness is a sin, and too much coffee can cause a person problems and smoking isn't healthy but according to the Bible the only way to defile the temple of the Holy Spirit is to join one's body with an unbeliever.
"Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? Never! Or do you not know that he who is joined to a prostitute becomes one body with her? For, as it is written, "The two will become one flesh." But he who is joined to the Lord becomes one spirit with him. Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body. 1 Corinthians 6:15-20
Then there are the cults that use things like non-Biblical restrictions to gain control over their follower's lives.
"Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink, or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath. These are a shadow of the things to come, but the substance belongs to Christ. Let no one disqualify you, insisting on asceticism and worship of angels, going on in detail about visions, puffed up without reason by his sensuous mind, and not holding fast to the Head, from whom the whole body, nourished and knit together through its joints and ligaments, grows with a growth that is from God. If with Christ you died to the elemental spirits of the world, why, as if you were still alive in the world, do you submit to regulations-- "Do not handle, Do not taste, Do not touch" (referring to things that all perish as they are used)--according to human precepts and teachings? These have indeed an appearance of wisdom in promoting self-made religion and asceticism and severity to the body, but they are of no value in stopping the indulgence of the flesh. Colossians 2:16-23

It is not the "drinking" that is a sin it is getting "drunk" that is. The bible says do not be "drunk" on beer or wine. This is because being drunk takes away our will power which in turn leads us to sinful acts.
