I run cross country and I've been having knee pain on and off since the beginning of summer. Now that I have increased my mileage, it seems like it has gotten a lot worse and hurts every day. I don't know if I should go to the doctor or just stop running until it goes away. I have grown a lot, but I don't think my growth spurt would last this long. Please back up any information with some sort of factual information and don't send me links to a page about it. thanks.

My nephew suffered when he was about 13/14 and did a growth spurt his knees used to swell badly and he was and still is a skinny frame...and now 6ft tall...the Osgood Schlatters went on for about 2yrs if I remember correctly and he had to take anti inflammatories to reduce the swelling and give him pain relief and wasn't allowed to run or cycle during that period...he is now 24 and cycles daily & runs and walks miles... very sporty, just those two years of suffering.

Best to go to your GP/Doc to make sure of correct diagnosis.
good luck :-)
