The juice from the onions can run out and on your hands. Just wash them with soap and water until the smell is gone.

Wear disposable rubber gloves while chopping them. It sounds silly, but your hands will for sure smell LESS like onions because the smell doesn't pass as easily thru the rubber. I also use rubber gloves when chopping up habanero peppers. They are so HOT, and you sure don't want to get habanero pepper juice on your fingers and rub your eyes. I've done that. NOT FUN! It's like pepper spraying yourself!

this sounds crazy but i swear it will work ,all you have to do is hold a knife or spoon that is sterling silver under running water for a few minutes just kinda pass the silver over your hands in the water and the smell is gone. don't know how it works, just know that it does. works with garlic too

Lemon scented kitchen soap works good. There's also this metal bar that is suppose to work by rubbing it on your hands. I think Bed, Bath & Beyond carries it. I've also seen it in catologs.

they make a silver bar that looks like a bar of soap but it takes the smell away. You can buy them at kitchen goods stores.

Baking soda should help that is if good old fashion washing preferably with something like dial soap doesn't do it.
