i know exactly how u feel!!! i used to be so TERRIFIED of dentists just a few months ago when i had to have a root canal done! Well...let me tell u somethin...it didnt hurt! =D ok well anyways...alot of people recomended using Valium or laughing gas. to be honest i didnt do anything special to calm my nerves. i just sucked it up. Just trust ur dentist he or she knows wat their doing and best of luck.

Do you know how scared i was yesterday, i couldn't sleep all night and my heart was racing so fast! But i still went to the oral surgeon, and he removed 6 teeth in less the 24 hrs ago! 4 wisdom teeth and 2 extra, two of my wisdom teeth were under the gum and lying sideways, so they had to be cut out! i have not had pain at all since i left the dental surgeon at 3.30pm yesturday and it is now 9.00am the next day! i have some jaw tenderness where they removed some bone but no throbbing pain whatso ever, nothing like i expected it to be! i was atleast expecting to be on the floor crying but i haven't even had the need to take any pain killers till this morning and even then i only took one!

Go to a good oral surgeon, they will not make you suffer and will do the operation as painlessly as possible! Trust me i had 6 teeth out yesturday!

If you are really scared, call the Dentist and ask him what you may take to keep your nerves steady.

Remember, having this work done does not hurt. These days, the Dr. uses such a tiny guage needle to numb the area, you can't even feel that either. Trust me. I am scared to death of a Dentist, although I've never had one hurt me in my life.

So, for anyone who doesn't understand what you are going through, cannot advise you. Just remember, it won't hurt. Just try to relax, think of something pleasant while he's working on you and it'll be over sooner than you think. Good Luck and keep your chin up. It'll be OK.

not really, I guess the only advice I have is a little too late. The only thing I've ever had to go to the dentist for, other then a cleaning and check up was my wisdom teeth, and I booked it as last minute as I could, that way I didn't have a lot of time to think about it. Just keep telling yourself that everything is fine, and just try to think about how beautiful your teeth are going to look after you get everything all done!

I get extremely scared when I go to the dentist, he started prescribing one low dose valium for half an hour before my appointment. I just get one and take it before the appointment, it works. There is also the "laughing gas" that stuff is amazing! If you can't do either of those...just remember to breathe, and take some headphones with you, crank up your favorite tunes so you don't have to hear what they are doing.

Don't be scared! just think, After this is all over, my tooth is gona feal alot better and I will be in less pain. It's not bad at all to get a tooth removed. I had one removed!
