if you were already going to break up with him,then that must mean you don't love him,So I think you should very gently tell him you don't feel the same way,and let him know that before he had told you he loved you,you had already made your mind up to end things.It's not fair to stay with some one who you don't love like they love you,Yes it will hurt him,but it would hurt him more if you drug this out and you ended it later,

I would say that he probably doesn't truly love you because if he did you would most likely love him back. It is not uncommon for guys to misuse the word "love," especially at a younger age. If you have the right reasons to break up with him then make sure you do it gently. Say "I don't feel the same way about you" or something like that. But first, ask yourself why you want to break up with him. If it's because of society (like your friends don't approve or something) then don't break up. If you really do have feelings for him and you are being in denial about it, put everyone else's oppinions about him aside and heal your relationship. Best of luck to you!

Be fair --- if you do not love him, let him know up front.
I would assume you would appreciate the honesty if the shoe was on the other foot.
In the long run all you will be doing is delaying the inevitable and you will break up somewhere down the road.

what you should do is think to your self why do i want to break up with him and if its something you could talk about it to him than do don't end something if its for no good reason cause what you might have could last a long time if you give it a chance

If you were going to break up with him I am sure you had your reasons. Why did his telling you that he loved you make you change your mind????? If you dont love him you need to stick to your guns and break up with him, dont lead him on. Go with what your heart tells you.

I think you should be honest with him. Hopefully you havent already said it back because that would be a lie and would make matters worse when & if you break up with him. Hope this is helpful! = )

It's a shame he loves you. It doesn't change anything. If you don't want to be with him anymore, then you need to let him know. Just be as nice as you can about it. It will ofcourse hurt his feelings. It's just a matter of 'how much' will it hurt.
