My friend has recently started attending a christian church and now she is always carrying a bible and talking about the lord. I try to tell her I am not interested and I rather talk about that movie, or that dude with the hairy ears but when I look in her eyes to talk to her she has that funny, glazed over, unfocused look to them...the first time i noticed it I shuddered, seriously, it was never there before. I agreed to come to her church with her and pretended to be interested in being 'saved' so I could find out what was goin on...it was more orientated toward teens and featured 'christian rock' , video games and...snacks! I ate a cookie but passed up the kool-aid and went to sit down, the whole time noticing a rather creepy looking guy with a beard, bushy eyebrows and a bible in his hand looking at me. ...while I was sitting eatin the cookie he came up to me, with a glass already in his hand and said rather creepily, 'Are you sure you don't like some Kool-AID?' ...help!

Not sure what your question is, but Christian churches love to lure in teens/young adults with "rock" music, snacks, and socializing (if you're implying that the Koolaid is poisened, I don't know what to tell ya). It would fall under the category of cult if the church is asking your friend for an inordinate amount of money, to give up friends who are not "saved," or to make major lifestyle changes. Good for you for trying to keep an open mind, but if you're uncomfortable w/ the Kool-aid - or anything else - by no means do you have to partake. If you think your friend is in danger speak up, but it could just be a phase she's going through. Being "born again" is trendy these days, like being bisexual was in the 90s.

First did your parents know where you were? If you are attending a teen activity, I guess you are not yet an emancipated adult. (Legal Age) Mom or Dad should attend religious services with you, they know you best.

If your gut tells you something is not right, LEAVE! Do not feel guilty, do not look back, say to whomever, "it's time for me to leave, I apologize". Then go.

Next time research the group. Spy and snoop about them, what are they about, the internet helps you know about groups that you are asked to visit. Do not go into it blind! After you study the group if they still interest you, ask your parents to attend with you. Listen to what experience they offer, they have lived longer and do have a broader background.

You may be kidding about this group, but listen up, because you will probably be in a similar situation as you described. Be prepared on how you will respond in these uncomfortable situations. Don't be embarrassed or shy. GET OUT!

i wonder how many know what you are referring to when you referr to kool-aid? I know, but who else does?? this is a refrance to the Jim Jones Peoples Temple event that killed 900 people in 4 hrs when they were forced to drink poison laced kool aid, or get shot in the head, when the temple commited mass suicde-murder of 1979. Your feelings are well founded, not because the kool aid might be spiked, but because they are YOUR FEELINGS. if your freind doesnt respect you and back off, leave them/ him/ her. You have way too much intelligence to be screwed with like this. People your age have enough pressure and God knows, you dont need more. F....k 'em.

What flavor of Kool-AID was it? I like the "cherry" flavor the best, it keeps me rather calm and relax when they dig in my purse for money, the "purple" flavor makes me feel like i'm floating, but they give that kind out whenever the missionarys come back to visit to see how wonderful their missions to our church is going.

Uhhh, that isn't like my church...that is just creepy. They don't sound like true followers of Christ, no matter what they say they are. Tried to talk to your friend, christian rock is just as bad as any other kind of rock and does not belong in God's house. Neither does Kool-Aid for that matter.....

I am willing to say your trying your best to make it seem like your in some kind of Jonestown type church. I am willing to bet your not. I am willing to bet your a loser who is trying to be funny. Give it up your not. Maybe you should drink some poison punch, might do the world some good, if you were not in it.
