Almond Cake batter with custard filling and vanilla buttercream icing

We had what's called a "Joy of Springtime" cake from a wonderful bakery in NH. It's a white cake with 3 layers of filling...two lemon curd and one raspberry preserves (very high quality). It was coated with real buttercream...so not white but a lovely ivory color.

We had an additional layer of chocolate cake with the same 3 layers of filligs but the layers were 2 of chocolate ganache and 1 of apricot preserves (yep, it works really well together).

Everyone loved the cake and we love it so much we take the 2 hour ride to that bakery minimally once a year on our anniversary, 2-3 times if we go for birthdays too.

My mom decorated cakes for a living, she always kept flavors simple, sometimes a special request, but the white wedding cake recipe. I used to like the almond or lemon ones still whit but just an added flavor, however she always could upsell those teirs on the side. LOL. she would make marble cakes, spice ckaes strawbery, One time i remebr her having my gram make zuccinni for the groom, to have on side. I thinks its all in what the couple want. You see all those fancy ones, i would love to try the raspbery custard ones mm they look good.

Do you have a baker picked out yet? Any reputable cake shop should be able to offer a tasting for you. If you haven't picked one, give a few shops a call and set up consultations. Mention what your favorite flavors are, and see what they have.

Then, go taste and enjoy! Find something you and your fiance truly enjoy.

A yellow cake. Some people have allergies to chocolate or other flavors or food coloring.

I am getting married next year and my fionce and i went cake tasteing. I recomend getting what you like and then get something genaric like chocolate and white cake. We chose to do yellow cake with a hazelnut frosting and apricot filling and a side cake with raspberry and cream filling. It is all in your preference. But i definitely recomend going for taste tests, see what kind of cake you like and from where. every place is different

Any flavor(s) you like are good. When my older sister remarried they had devils food cake. The bride and groom on top were gingerbread people. The one drawback is they forgot to offer big cold glasses of milk. We had to make do with champagne
