most definatey true. nyc is the center of the universe. mainly manhattan. it should be, if you can make it in manhattan you can make it anywhere. new yorkers are made up of people from all walks of the world and no one judges you. there is a market for everything. the perfect training grounds.

I think it is more a figure of speech than literal truth. Because New York is seen as having the biggest companies, expensive real estate, millions of people etc. it is more diffiuclt to stand out and appear successful among your peers than in smaller cities. Itdoesn't necessarily mean that will also succeed in Seattle or Vancouver or Dublin if you move there.

Yes, I am from NY and to live here you need to have a Great paying job and be able to deal with the every day rat race. It's expensive here and very fast paced. Good luck!

seem to be, new yorkers are very funny we like what we like and only settled for what we want or need i'm talking about native new yorkers;we have a gut feeling about things there are so many ways of making it if you can survive here knowing the streets you can take that knowledge anywhere and make it.

I don't know but when I grew up in Port Arthur/Fort William ( now Thunderbay) there was lots of people
wearing "I Love New York" t-shirts. Thunderbay copied and put out I Love Thundebay t- shirts! I guess if you make it in New York then they try to make it in Thunderbay! Thunderbay is nicer to tourist than to it's own residents!

Yes if you live in NY, you can make it any where, i used to live in Florida , it was easy life less stressful, i move back because of my Daughter i miss her.

yes, i think, new york's a pretty tough city, lots of competition, so if you survive it, you probably can make in any city. not sure about the deserts, the countrysides, and the antiartica, but yeah, you be fine
