If you have one that pretty laid back and calm, and she's spayed then it really doesn't matter as long as the one you get is laid back easy going and spayed or neutered. Only alpha (aggressive dogs when taking in a new pet will be aggressive and intimidate the new pet.You monitor closely only introduce them and just step in with a spray bottle, if outside and nasty the garden hose. I doubt it would get that far. You just need to use some common sense as long as they are spayed and neutered. You might want to invest in a travel or training crate to put the new one in while your out. This is for the safety of both pets.

I would go with a male. Come on we all know that females can only get along together for so long before becoming bitches. lol
