"goth people" are generally not satanic at all. in fact in my years of hiring at a convenience store years ago, I found that "goths" made better employees. They were more likely to be depressed, but less likely to steal and come to work high. It seemed that, true to their contrary natures, the liked to do what was not expected.
The ankh is a sign of life that predates Christianity. Often when goths wear crosses, though, I think it's rather more of a fashion statement than a profession of faith. But these kids like shock value, not evil.

There are a variety of reasons. First I will address crosses, crucifixes and rosaries.
Many goths are from religious backgrounds and may have fallen out of favor with the practices of their family. They may wear the imagery of the religion in a mocking or ironic fashion to clash with the rest of their aesthetic.
Alternatively, the individual is actually involved in Christianity and wears it as a symbol of their faith.
As for ankhs, the reasons are far more diverse. One may be connected to Egyptian culture in a blood related way, or perhaps just interested in it. The individual may be a fan of Neil Gaiman s Sandman series, and may be emulating the character of Death, who wears an Egyptian Ankh necklace. The ankh symbol has also been connected to the vampire subculture by several vampiric society leaders, and introduced through Anne Rice s Vampire Chronicles series as well.

There is no true form of 'Gothic' anymore. Gothic was an art/architecture style in the17-18th centuries, and is usually illistrated through horror movies.
And just because you fit the stereotypical 'gothic' that's here nowadays does not make you satanic. Satanism is actually more of a complex religion than most give it credit for. Unfortunatly, most of the small-time wanna-be cults screw it over.
And if they're against religion, yet still wearing the crosses, ankh, and penticles, ask them if they have a split-personality disorder.

Are you a ****ing ***. Goth is a fashion statement and NOT A GORRAM RELIGION!!! I'm sure most goths are either christians or wiccans. You probably don't even know what modern day Satanism is anyways.

Some Goths actually *are* religious!
Some others simply like how the jewelry looks.

I suspect that you'd have to ask each individual Goth. Each one probably chooses his/her clothing for his/her own reasons and his/her own perception of what it means to be a Goth.
