I am a mother of 2 daughters. My eldest who is 9 always ask me what is a condom as she see it at the supermarket.

First you have to explain what sex is. Then tell her that a condom is what a man wears during sex to prevent pregnany and diseases. 9 is actually the age experts reccomend having the first serious sex talk with your child anyway, so you are lucky to have this as a lead-in.

Tell her it is something that a man wears sometimes - sort of like a glove or a like a band-aid. She really doesn't need to know more about condoms than that at this age.

I think a 9 year old is old enough to handle you saying 'Something adults use when they aren't ready to be parents' Doesn't she know about sex and how it is enjoyable for 2 people who love each other?

Answer her frankly and honestly, without going into too much detail. Don't lie to her, and don't avoid the question, or her curiosity will be piqued. There's nothing shameful about sex between two people who are in love and married.

Tell her it's something to prevent pregnancy. If she doesn't ask anymore then the conversation is over.

explain it to her as this is what we use to pervent a baby. she might not understand as that is a young age.
