I had a rescue dog, (12 years old) (Lhasa Apso) die in my arms July 3, 2006. "Max" was 9 years old when I got him, took him to the vet and she discovered an inoperable hip tumor and only gave him 2-3 months to live. He out-lived the vet's odds and lived another 4 years. I would like to find a throw or blanket made with his photo and give it to my Mom as a Christmas gift even though he was my dog, he was both of ours. We are both widows and took his death very hard. 9 days later, I did adopt a 2 1/2 year old chihuahua that has stolen our hearts but I would like to remember my other dog in a unique way. I would appreciate all suggestions. Thank you

The most special gift that was given to me in memory of my lab mutt Suzie was a donation of the book,One at a Time: A Week in an American Animal Shelter , in her name to my local animal shelter. When I visit there, it sits there with her picture in the cover and teaches about shelter dogs. My roommate did it, and it was free. They sent me a copy of the dedication plate, and I framed it. Here is the site, so you can see if they are still doing it. The program was continuing until they gave out like 1000 copies.

I know it is not a blanket, but it is sweet and meaningful. here is a site that has blankets and the like also.

Get the picture screen printed onto fabric. Then cut into a square. Cut another piece of fabric same size and sew three sides together. Put pillow form or craft stuffing into it. Sew up last side. You now have a pillow to display to remember your wonderful friend.

I suggest going to Michaels. They have supplies that enables you to iron on a picture to blankets, sweatshirts, T-Shirts, pillows, etc. They're only about $5-$10 depending on the kind that you get.

Perhaps you can buy a packet, iron on your favorite photo on a pillow or blanket or wherever you want to place it, and decorate it to your liking.

I'm really sorry for your loss. Hope this suggestion helps!
