Depends on the substance and how long and how much you have used it. Nicotine, for instance, usually peeks by the third day. With other substances it may take several days or weeks for major symptoms to subside and a few more months for your body to fully adjust to its absence. Withdrawal from some substances can involve severe symptoms such as delirium, seizures and hallucinations so it's best that it's done under medical supervision.

If you are asking for yourself, we as your reading audience wish you all the best.....being addicted to alcohol is easy to withdraw from, just stay away from it, and from what I have read it takes 30 days to break an addiction...drugs? I really don't know, but I do think that one should be hospitalized for a time until the withdrawals subside, and then it is up to the addict how they want to live their life..clean or drugged, their choice, you would be much further ahead with a direct plan for sobriety....good luck

That is a tough one to answer, you didnt say what you are addicted to. That makes all the difference in the world. No addiction is easy to get over. If you have it bad enough you may have to into the hospital or a treatment program. Best of luck.

it depends on the person, the amount they were using, the duration of time used, the substance used, etc. it varies.. actual physical withdrawls can be very serious adn should be overseen by a doctor or someone who can get a person to a doctor fast. they don't usually last over a week... cravings however.. those diminish over time..

When I quit drinking I had withdraw symtoms for 2 months. But my mind got clearer every day. It was like I was living in a fog and I slowly walked out. It will get better.
