I think you are talking about something different thatn what the previous answers reffered to. Ok, I know this sounds odd but sometimes I will start laughing and then it turns to crying and I have to real reason as to why I have these feelings. It is like a stress release to me(at least mom says so). I am 23 and have done this since i was a child. If this is what you are questioning..its a stress release. If not, good luck with everything :)

It is manifestly known to humans alone since they have reasoning ability. We tend to laugh at what appears to be unreasonable, strange, ironic etc and cry when we relate some sad thing to our self as our loss of some possession and honor (modesty) and self respect etc.Of course some laugh and cry for no reason or a reason best known themselves. They may be mad, self centered or just acting. The whole drama of human life is between these two.The biological answer is of course is senses and sensory organs.so better be sensitive with those two precious faculties or handicaps as they are both, use with discretion passionless.

When my children do something funny or something new they learned, maybe something I didn't teach them but they learned on their own. I will laugh because they are funny and sweet and yet cry at the same time because they grow and change so very, very fast.

i laugh when i remember my eldest son's dialogs, (he's learning to talk some language), when my husband tells me jokes. i cry when my children gets sick, and i pray them to the lord, i cry to the lord.
