I just started back up at college and for the last 3 weeks I have had the WORST anxiety....with very unrealistic fears about everything and adjusting to being away form home. I finally broke down and went to the Doctor. She prescribed .25 mg of xanax as needed. Will it help? will it help me work through the next couple of weeks...BECAUSE I KNOW THESE FEELINGS ARE TEMPORARY. I felt this way last year too and it went away in a few weeks.

Xanax at the .25 level sounds like way too much to me, unless you are in the middle of a full blown panic attack. .5 mg would be more like it, 4 times a day as a preventative measure. It is always easier to deal with anxiety BEFORE you actually are, hence the low preventative dose throughout the day. Xanax can be a life saver for some, a demon for others if you have an addictive personality, as it is an extremely addictive drug. Beware of that. Good Luck............G.

yes it should and if you need more to cope say after a week the dr may up it to 50 mils as needed till you feel better i would take it at night at first because it has a sleepiness effect to it once your body adjusts you will just be relaxed instead of tired all the time

Yeah I think that should definitely help to calm the nervousness to a point where it will be manageable for you. Just make sure you are following doctors orders and keeping him/her updated as to how you are feeling and how the meds are working. Good luck!

Yes it will take the edge off. That small of a dose wont make you sleepy or anything either, or it shouldnt. It just depends on how your body reacts to it. Good luck.
