The US Library of Congress has a copy of every book ever published in the US, as well as other archives.
The Bettman Archive is one of the largest photo archives in the world. It's in Washington, D.C.
Corbis is a world-famous commercial archive.

You won't find any. The Daugerrotype was not invented until 1839. You need to look at painted portraiture. I suggest you start with the work of Ingres.
