It depends. I have one of each. Both needed expensive orthodontics. The girl needed more clothes and feminine parapernalia, the boy so far had me buy him 3 computers, two huge boxes of computer games, playstations 1 & 2 plus countless games, an mp3 player. Needless to say both have their own phones.
The girl made us send her to the old country every second year since she was 8. The boy only wanted to go twice so far.
The girl attended an expensive private university, the boy will be happy with a regular university.
In the end it depends on the child not the gender.

It does after a certain age. I'm a single dad of a soon to be 9 yr. old girl. Up until this school year she was easy to please clothes wise. If it said Tigger, Snoopy or Harley Davidson we were good to go. But this year she got all girly on me and shopping for school clothes got a lot more expensive. Plus there is the hair and nails thing. I have learned how to do her nails ( don't laugh, it's expensive at a salon ) but I'm still learning about her styles. So in answer to your question, Hell Yeah it cost more to raise a girl, but it's worth every penny.

Yes. I have six grown daughters - and several grandsons now. Girls are much more interested in how they look right from the start. They want lots of clothes and shoes...and jewlery, and accessories. Boys generally are happy with jeans and a T-shirt.

Yeah, probably. All the new fashions, makeup, feminine supplies, shoes, and stuff we just "gotta" have probably come out more expensive than a couple outfits and a football. Plus, if she gets married, the bride's parents usually pay!

It takes a little more patience with tea parties, a higher price for long talks on rainy days, a fortune in giggles, a huge sum in phone bills and a bigger return on your investment in a little girl who will one day become a beautiful woman and who will love you till the day she dies.

Yes if you're comparing her to a puppy, no if you're talking about her brother... same amount of money, spent on different things!
