Usually telling the truth is an easy way to get out of a ticket. You have to think that a highway-type cop spends his ENTIRE day pulling over people for speeding and traffic violations. Out of the people pulled over, 99% of them claim to not have done what he says they did. It is on very rare occasion that someone will actually ADMIT to speeding. For the cop, a person like you be like a lift in their day - not one of the typical people who claim not to have been speeding. I admitted once and they completely dropped the ticket and gave me a warning. He said the reason was because I was honest and didn't lie like every one. He looked stunned when I said "sorry for speeding, officer, how much will the fine be?"

Of course, you could always try being polite and crying - or just being sexy ;)

It depends on the cop and how good looking you are. From what I've heard, girls who cry and seem very sorry tend to get off the hook. This doesn't work with female police officers though.

With that exception mentioned, I find that most people who respect the police officer tend to catch a break. First, when you're pulled over, gradually move over to the side and stop. Sit there straight with both your hands on the steering wheel so they can see them. Wait till they knock on your window, then lower it and let them control the situation. Always finish each response with "sir" or "ma'am". Answer honestly and don't speak loudly or make sudden movements. When they ask for your information, tell them what you are going to do (reach into your back pocket, purse, etc) and do it slowly.

Lots of cops die every year from some motorist that they pulled over, so many of them are edgy. Do everything you can not to make them nervous. Also understand why they are pulling you over and genuinely state that you'll be careful next time.

And last of all, the easiest way to not get a ticket is do not do anything that would cause a cop to pull you over. Drive safe, both your life and others are precious to many people. :)

Now, I don't want to go giving away secrets or anything, but since you asked....honesty! When a cop pulls you over and asks "do you know why I pulled you over?" don't hand them a line of crap, tell them, they already know the answer they just want to make sure you do. A few months ago I got pulled over for speeding, I was doing at least twice the speed limit when I flew by a mototcycle cop with a radar gun. I saw him when it was too late, the words "oh f#@k came right out of my mouth as he pulled out to follow me. I pulled over, when he came to my window, I remained very calm, did everything I was supposed to (turned my engine off, had my license, registration and proof of insurance ready for him by the time he got to the window and had both hands on the wheel), he asked that question that everyone hates to hear, "ma'am, do you know why I pulled you over?" I said, "yeah, probably because I was doing 60 in a 30 zone". He looked pretty shocked. He proceeded to do his thing, asking me where I was going in such a hurry blah, blah, blah. Well, I ended up "getting out" of a $300 ticket for one reason and one reason only. The cop told me that he was letting me go with a warning to slow down because I didn't turn on the waterworks and "try" to get out of the ticket by being all girlie and stupid. I've actually heard this from a buddy of mine that's a cop, he told me that if it's a somewhat minor traffic violation like speeding, no seatbelt, no blinker, etc...they will let you off 70% of the time if you don't try to bullsh!t them and just cooperate and remain calm. LADIES! The worst thing you can do is turn on the tears (yeah, ok. It may work on occasion), and guys just stay super calm and don't be combative and try to bow up on the cop, it'll never work if you're being an @$$.

I did not do this intentionally. It simply happened and then, in the end, I didn't get the ticket. So, I'll share it.
I was speeding. A city patrolman pulled me over. The berm was narrow, and there was quite a bit of traffic on the highway. When he approached my vehicle, the first thing I asked was, "Am I pulled over far enough for you to be safe?" He said he was fine and proceeded with the rest of the usual procedure. At the very end, he informed me how fast I was going. I apologized. It was near the end of winter and was the first warm, sunny day, and I explained that when I opened the sunroof and turned on the radio I just got carried away. He said, "I'm giving you a friendly warning and not a ticket. Do you know why?" And I said, "Thank you. No." He said, "Because when I pulled you over your first concern was for my safety. I want you to understand the reason I pulled you over was my concern for your safety. Please continue on your way and do the speed limit."

I dont see any concern in it. For the most area the proceedings look the position they experience they have been dealt with more desirable harshly than individuals of the favourite public with the help of officials who're more desirable vindictave in route of police. They don t say something about it being a job perk yet to be honest they probably can stress more desirable thoroughly at severe speeds than maximum persons on the line and are a lot less of a risk. might want to you truly be hit with the help of a vehicle at 80 or an 18 wheeler at 70. supply me the vehicle anyday. for the most area the police will provide you with a warning when you're surely rushing yet no longer driving like an fool to accompany it. Im guessing your indignation is in all probability by using having been ticketed for basically that reason. and also you may also wanna seem right into a % determination ingredient referred to as the eightieth percentile , I dare say they're safer doing an analogous % as each body else in the street and in no way crawling alongside at ridiculous limits that haven't from now on something in difficulty-loose with the trendy vehicle. It truly yanks my chain even as idiots supply the police a not straightforward time as they're an straightforward objective. i dearly wish you get to bypass an stay in a rustic with out police and word how lengthy your pampered butt lasts

Pull over as soon as possible and get as far off the road as you can, don't make the cop have to follow you with the lights and siren on. Have your license, registration, and insurance card out when he comes to the door. At night turn the domelight on so he can see inside the car. If he asks you if you know why you were pulled over, admit your mistake and apologize.
If that doesn't work show him your t**s!

apologize be cordial except whatever the infraction was, he/she will more than likely let you off with a warning, pending L's registration and insurance is in order.

A traffic stop can be initiated for several different reasons. There's no guarantee of any method working for you with any given police officer. The stories in your answers are interesting, for sure......but as for having a genuine system for avoiding the ticket? Too many variables in each situation for any answer to have validity.
