A lot of churches actually don't ALLOW gays/lesbians to go to their church. I know several people who got kicked out of their churh. Not because they didn't believe in god, but because of the person they love.

I don't go to chruch myself, as I'm not Christian/Catholic/Babtist/etc, but any time i have gone, I'd always hear homophobic remarks.

I'd personally rather rot in Hell for an eternity than go worship a god that would condemn me for loving someone. Being gay is NOT a choice. Do you honestly think someone would WANT to be insulted every day of their lives, to go walk down a street, worrying if people knew about them, and worrying whether or not they can make it home before getting jumped? To go through the emotional trauma of being abandoned by their 'friends' for being a 'fag'?

I personally hate Christianity for this reason. So-called 'Christians' who love everyone, tell them how wonderful they are, and then immeadiatly turn their backs when they find out about someone being gay. Hypocrites.

Reread the first paragraph of Romans 2. Bascally, for judging ANYONE, you are just as condemned to 'Hell' as they are.

i think it depends on that particular gay, so to speak.

if they grew up with a religous family, or they are very aware of people's opinions, they may tend to steer clear of church.

mind you, even for the straight person, church is sometimes a hard place to go. and that all depends on the actual church and community.

for instance, i have a friend, (female, straight), well she got preggers . . .she was going to church all the time . . .by the way, she was Lutheran. those ppl basically disowned her. she was a filthy harlot, despite the fact she was 26 w/ a great job, and on her own, and was still dating her boyfriend. so imagine being gay ( and flammin') and going to a place like that. i wouldn't go.

and on the other hand, i know Bull-Daggers who go to church like it's no big deal . .in fact they go more often than i do and should. but that doesn't mean that ppl don't talk about them and go out of their way to make them feel bad.

it's just a matter if you give a damn or not, and how much that gay person has came to terms with being "out".

I have many gay friends who attend church. You may want to read the following article written by a Southern Baptist Preacher, it dispels the myth that gay people are worse sinners than any one else is. It is a very interesting and refreshing view point on homosexuality and religion.

I know if I were in their shoes I wouldn't want to go where people look down at their life style. It would be much easier to set and watch the preacher on TV. I have my opinions about gays, that is the part of me that makes me human. It's treating everyone with respect that makes me more. I know allot of churches that could learn from that. Even a narrow minded Christian as myself can see that. Thanks for the question.

It's because of self-righteous, holier-than-thou people who say things to them like "God rained down sulfer on gay people. Church is not for sinners" and ignore the whole "judge not" part of Christianity.

Probably for the same reason other people who have issues in their lives think they can't go to church. As usual, people who are trapped in the mind set of this world think that they have to get their act together before they can show up for church. It's a shame that they don't realize that is totally backward. You come to Christ as you are, because He loves you as you are, He just loves you too much to leave you as you are whether your issue is gay sex, fornication, drunkenness, lying, pride, arrogance, etc.

Many people love to gossip and judge others. Gays are particularly unwelcome in most churches -- despite the pretense of being welcomed.

When people go to church, they are there to learn the word of God and with that knowledge they get, they are to use it to better themselves, and stop the sinning. For those who think that they can live a sinful lifestyle and still think God approves. This is what Gos says..

Titus 1:16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

Romans 1:24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:

25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:

27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,

30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,

31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:

32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

It's not ok with God to be gay!

Anyone can go to church, gay, straight, bi, but the thing God discourages is sexual acts with the same sex.

A gay person for example can be gay, but have never had sex with the same sex. So does that make him/her bad? No.
They could live a life of celibacy.

No reason why they can't. They might learn the truth that would set them free. I agree all sin is sin, and separates you from God, but I hear very few say "I was born an adulterer, and I can't do anything about it. Not only that, I want adultery recognized as a different life style, and taught in school beginning at pre-school."
