being British and not being subjected to a prayer ban in schools (what ludicrosity that ban is! when the American constitution states that 'we are one nation under God' but you will be put in prison for praying to him) i can only say that the two issues of being a believer and being a thinker are not mutually exclusive

I am a christian and have been since i was 14 - i also have two degrees (maths if you are interested - one of the more 'solid' disciplines) and fail to see that the two contradict each other in any way.

also being a qualified school teacher too - surely the education forum is somewhere i can offer some helpful thoughts on matters?

but by all means think in the churches - perhaps it is the culture of letting some overenthusiastic preacher do all the thinking for everyone else is to blame not the concept of being a believer

and bring back prayer in schools before another kid goes amok with a gun again (yes i have had a gun produced in one of my maths lessons too)

You rock girl!!
And no person should be barred from any forum due their religious beliefs. By the way, anybody notice all of the atheists/freethinkers we have here? Our numbers are growing!!
And for the unenlightened, the Constitution does not have "In God We Trust", it's on the money (it was a compromise Lincoln made with believers who wanted Christianity as the state religion). Also, no one goes to jail for praying in the USA (freedom of religion).

I believe you are mixing apples with figs. Try this: If non-believers should stay out of the believer's forum, then shouldn't anti-education people stay out of the Educatin forum?

Religion and Education are two different things. If you promise to not pray in my school, I promise to not teach Math in your Church."

ROFLMAO

Thanks I needed that question, it has been a long day and many of the Christians in here don't even understand why you are asking that. I had a day devoted to constrained non-linear optimization.

Just a note, I am a Christian, but if you can forgive my speaking with my invisible friend, I otherwise qualify for the education forum.

Please don't go, many of the believers in here simply have never thought through their faith or the implications. I don't pretend to be the enlightened one, my God had diaper rash.

Glory to Jesus Christ!

lol. i don't know why people hate us being here...i may not believe in god, but i still enjoy learning about why others do. this is a forum to learn about things you don't know. if only believers visit the religion forum, where is the education in that

Believers are just as likely to be edjucated as non believers. I will add to this that I used to work for a doctors office in which 6 or 7 doctors practiced. Each of these men and women was a devout Christian whose faith was most supported by what they learned about the human body in medical school. Paraphrasing a doctor here: "As complex as one single cell is, you realize it is not possible for all these cells to function to form organs even more complex that form systems even more complex that make up an even more complex body without intelligent design"

You should open your mind a little, you might learn something.

PS AA says we "got no brain" There's someone who should spend WAY more time in the educations section!!!
