The going legal preference is about 24-27 weeks..
Is it at all disturbing that there is clinical proof that the human fetus experiences pain at around the 20 week mark? This could be a conservative guess, but who knows, would you err on the safe side, give a human infant the benefit of the doubt?
How would this information effect your opinion on when a fetus gets rights as a living creature (since animals in general also get rights) if it is able to experience the pain of it's own death?

I personally feel that an abortion should not be allowed past the first month or two.

At the point that the heart begins to beat, and neurological signals are transmitted, abortion should not be legal (unless it is to save the mothers life, or if the baby is severely deformed).

But there is no scientific reasoning behind my opinion.

I am not an atheist but I will not offer a religious viewpoint. I will simply state that medical experts now say during evacuation of the womb a fetus can feel major pain in early weeks of pregnancy even when it is still smaller than your fist. Also I personally don't like the idea of interfering with nature by ending what will be a life (if you don't consider it one when it is just a fetus, not a baby).

I'm sorry, what does an ATHEIST have to do with this? There are many religious people that agree with abortions to a point (IE rape, underage etc)

I think that abortions should ONLY be done in the dire of situations, not for careless people who can't control their hormones!

I would err on the safe side, but I'm not an embryologist so I don't have an expert opinion.

I think if you don't want to carry to term you should abort asap like six weeks or less.

Never its murder. If you are stupid enough to have sex for the wrong reasons then you deserve to go through the pains of parenthood.

I may be an athiest, but I don't believe in killing babies. Try keeping your legs closed, then you won't have to worry about killing your flesh and blood.

IMO, it should be based on what is the earliest it could survive outside the womb, based on survival rates of preemies

Personally, I don't think it's ever ok. Life begins at conception.

Where the hell did you get the idea that atheists were for abortion? You are just plain wrong on that.
