the athiest people say that there isnt a god... but there is a devil... but if there wasnt a god than how would they be here in the first place, and does it make sence to have good to balance out evil. or to conquer it or something like that? what would bring on being an athiest, and whats there reason to be one. besides that they dont have proof god exsits, but then how can they explain the good in people from people that are just plain mean?
i have never understood any of that

Your information is inaccurate, Atheists don't believe in a God or Devil either. As for creation, Atheists rely on science to explain that one. A reason to be one is to be tired and disgusted by religion or else not able to accept religious dogma blindly especially when it makes no sense. If good things happening to good people and bad things happening to bad people is a "proof" of God, then good things happening to bad people and bad things happening to good people is proof of God's nonexistence.

Atheists don't believe in "a devil" either.

>but if there wasnt a god than how would they be here in the first place

There are theories of how we got here but even if there weren't it wouldn't mean "god did it". Just because there is an unknown doesn't mean you should make up an answer. People used to think god was responsible for lighting and thunder, we now know this is not true.

>what would bring on being an athiest, and whats there reason to be one.

People don't try to be atheists. You either believe in god or you don't. "Atheist" is just a label for those that don't.

>but then how can they explain the good in people from people that are just plain mean?

The idea of god is not needed to explain people's behavior.

Who told you that being an athiest means that you don't believe in God, but you do believe in the devil. That is simply not true. An athiest is a person who believes that once you die, that's it. There is no life after death. An athiest believes in the scientific approach to life and death, as opposed to the the religous approach based on the fact that there is proven evidence that we have evolved over time from one celled organisms and that when we die, we return to dust, essentially.

Athiests have varying degrees of beliefs based on their educational backgrounds. I, for one believe in some form of after life. I believe that your cells containing carbon live on for a very long time and that life can be resurrected from this carbon from other organisms injesting it. I believe this based on scientific facts, not a story in a book.

I also happen to believe that in my life time, we will have the capabilites to extract carbon from dead tissue and make new life from it. In that respect, I do believe in life after death. This is already being done. It's called cloning.

I also believe in a "life force". I believe that there is an energy field that holds matter together that can be manipulated by stimulating it. One of the things that can stimulate this life force is love. Another is hate. I believe very strongly in love and hate. I believe in making this time on earth the best possible time I can because I don't believe that I'm going to get a second chance.

Even if I do get a second chance, the circumstances will be so different, I wouldn't know it if I did. My parents, friends & memory will be so different that I would have no idea that I'd been here before. So, I like to think that I have only one life, here, on earth, today and if I don't make the most of it, it may be gone- with a blink of an eye.

So, if you think what I'm saying is just plain mean, I'm sorry for you. However, I think I'm more caring about my neighbors, plants, animals, children and the environment than most people I know who go to church every Sunday. What they pray about on Sundays, I practice 24 hours a day.

I think they believe there isn't a God or a Devil, there's just them and science. they believe humans got here through evolution, which (may I remind you) has yet to be proved or disproved. I think they believe that humans make their own choices to be good or bad, and that being a good person doesn't mean believing in God, though the Ten Commandments and normal "good person" ethics are mostly the same. They tend to think that they are more logical people than the rest of the world, because they don't believe in what they think is a fictional being designed to make people with unsatisfactory lives feel better. And sometimes they choose atheism because they have had bad experiences with religion.

People really don't know this but you don't either.
God is like a widget (Fictional product)
I'll explain.
You know how people blame Mother Nature for bad weather or what animals do to survive, or good things like the bird and the bees.
Example:
First guy: Look at that Lion pounce on that Gisela.
Second guy: Yep that's Mother Nature for ya, she can be a real *****.
Well God is the same thing.
There's no guy sitting on a throne in the sky.
You have to see religion for what it was back then.
It was a way to explain things to stupid people.
Yes things got out of hand. But people loved them stories in the Bible.
But think about it, what do you remember most about something you heard.?
A good story... right?

Atheists don't believe in the devil. Where did you get that nonsense? Anyway... the foolishness that serves you as a substitute for logic and reason is a logical fallacy (a flaw in thinking) known as the "Argument From Incredulity"... which is a sub-category of the "Argumentum ad Ignorantiam" (Argument From Ignorance). It goes something like this: "I can't conceive of how this might have come to be; therefore, God did it."

That does not point to a limitation of nature... rather, it exemplifies a limitation of knowledge or intellect. Also, it is intellectually dishonest, since it does not ACKNOWLEDGE the limitation of knowledge or intellect... it merely invokes the fanciful idea of a supernatural creator-entity to manifest the ILLUSION that cognitive dissonance has been resolved. It substitutes 'faith' for fact, and 'belief' for knowledge... but neither faith nor belief are sufficient to sustain reason... they are only sufficient to sustain willful ignorance.

That is the epitome of self-delusion.

"When one person suffers from a delusion, it is called insanity. When many people suffer from a delusion it is called Religion." ~ Robert M. Pirsig

If you imagine that there is anything you've understood, that's called delusion. Athiests say there isn't a god but there is a devil? Please stop trying to figure anything out. Just believe what you're told, be quiet when people talk about stuff that's over your head, and have fun whenever possible.

First, atheists don't believe in a devil, neither do agnostics. This is why I came to my decision. If God loves us so much, why would he let horrible things happen? Why do chidren get abused, people get murdered and generally hideous thingas happen to good people? Also, I have trouble believing in something no one can prove to me exists. ALSO, I have studied the bible, and feel it is very hypocritical. I just don't buy it. Anyway, that is what led me to my decision.

Atheists do not believe in the concept of the devil. Atheists don't believe in God (or any gods or goddesses), or Hell, or the Devil, or any of it. They tend to regard these concepts as purely mythological. They are atheists because they choose not to engage in religious belief. There's nothing sinister or weird about it; they simply don't believe.
