I had someone stay with me until he got on his feet. I told him last night that he had to be in before midnight. Well he wasn't so the doors got locked. The next day I had to go to college and then he calls the cops on me for locking him out. They told me to give him his stuff but he hasn't came for it. I want to know how long I he has to clam it is his before I can keep it?

Do you know the name of the Officer who told you to give him his stuff back? If not and there was a report written about the call, find out who he was through the report. Call Police Station and leave a message asking him what to do. Since he took the original report, you can ask him, and advise him that you have made reasonable attempts to have that person pick the items up. The Officer can add a supplement to his report to that effect. Follow his advice on what to do next, that way you can rid yourself of any liability. The worst thing to do is sell his property for your financial gain. This will lead to problems for you.

This isn't the place to get that question answered in any definitive way. Ask the police who told you to give his stuff back, how long does he have to come and get it? Nobody here can answer this type of question for you in any reliable way with this small bit of information.

Be careful you could be liable
You should make a reasonable ...documented attempt to return his stuff.
Then after a month or two I would guess...to the trash or eBaY.
You could effectively charge storage after he's been notified.

You can get rid of it anytime you like because it is in your space. But at no point should you be able to claim ownership to it.
