According to early Christian stories, the Holy Family travelled on the southern caravan route through Sinai along the coast. They passed through Gaza-Raphia then to Ostrakini then to Pelusium. Leaving Pelusium they travelled to Bilbais then Miniat-Genah, crossed the Nile then to the Natroun Valley. Later they moved to Old Cairo. Eventually they returned through Bahnassa, Gabel-el-Tair, Malawi then to Mirah and back to Palestine.

So, although he would have been small, the answer would be he should have, assuming of course that the bible stories and early preserved stories are true.

Source is early Coptic stories about the Holy Family. The Coptic Church is one of the five great early apostolic sees. The Pope of Alexandria, Shenoudai III, is the 117th successor of St. Mark the Evangelist.

If you are really interested, there are Coptic Churches around. Their service like Catholic and Orthodox services are derived from the services left by the apostles. Theirs was written by the Apostle Mark originally and shortened by Cyril. They also use services derived from James' and Peter's liturgies. The Pope of Rome and the Pope of Alexandria recently signed a common declaration of faith and with prayer the two great churches will be one communion again soon.
