The Bible was written in a time when women WERE second class citizens. We have to just understand that.
And yet... even though that situation existed... remarkably there were some VERY outstanding women given starring roles in the Bible. I think that's pretty special.
As for the way men and women are separate but equal in the Church, that's the way my husband and I are, too. There are things he can do that I can't do, and vice versa. We complement one another, and we don't have to be envious or try to compete.
Like the sun and the moon... each has a separate function, and each is equally important.
Women are very much revered throughout all of history, and Biblical history is no different. Women are not priests, and men are not nuns. What is the big problem with that? Both are necessary.

Not at all, God loves women as well as he loves men and he is not sexist, in fact if you read the bible you will realize Jesus really cared about women (not in a lusty way), there were a lot of women in the ministry of Jesus and in the christian church of the firsts years.
Yes, there are a lot of things in the Bible that appear to be sexist, but you has to remember that most of those things are part of the israelite culture, which was a very sexist culture (and still is, just like the arabic cultures...).
In the Bible you can read that for God there is no difference between men and women, both are equal. Read galatians 3:28, in the new testament there are a lot of references of women being treated like they treat men, having the same responsabilities and priviledges...but you have to actually read the Bible to know that

God can't be sexist. He created females. Women back then and in many countries still today are the ones to have children, raise them, teach them, and keep the home and family clean, strong and together. I don't think a woman who is a house-wife is weak. MEN NEED US!!!!!! If women stopped cooking and cleaning, stopped teaching their children morals and knowledge the world would end. Men can't do this alone. I would like the government to pay house-wives and mothers. We do deserve that! Women are not weak in any manner. A man can go to work for 8-12 hours a day. He may stop for a drink with his buddies, or put gas in the car on the way home, mow the lawn once a week, etc. But a woman will wake up at 5:30 am to get herself ready and get breakfast ready for the family, make sure the kids have their books for school and her husband has his suitcase for work, see them off, make beds, clean tiolets, vacuum 5 rooms and stairs, take care of the mail and the bills, do an hour of grocery shopping, put dinner in the oven, helps the kids with homework, serve dinner to everyone, clean up after dinner, drive Scottie to soccer practice, Susie to ballet class, plan tomorrow's meals, bath the kids, iron clothes for tomorrow, set clothes out for tomorrow, pick up toys, red a bedtime story, tuck the kids in, and still want to love her husband later that night. Do you call that weak?
God created Adam first and saw that he was lonely. Adam had the entire planet and millions of animals to himself. Yet he was lonely. Adam NEEDED Eve. He didn't WANT a companion, he NEEDED a companion. Women have never been the weak ones. Men try to make us feel that way do they can boost their egos. Men in Iran, Irag, India and such still control the women but they feel that they have to control the women but they know that the women would leave them in a heartbeat if they didn't. Women in America have it good compared to other countries. Women here are governors, doctors, judges, senators, CEOs, etc. You don't see that in many other places. Don't ever think that women are weak and second-class citizens. We actually hold our families, our communities, our countries together.

My friend, read again. The Bible has much respect for women. Many reference are giving about how men should treat their wives in a loving manner. There are stories of great woman. Take the book of Ruth, she saved a whole nation from genocide. Paul gives several instructions though out the new testament for the disciples to treat woman with much respect, there names are mentioned but I'll let you do the research. And keep in mind that all scripture is inspired by God. To say that the Bible is man's word would be saying that there's no God. Have you tried having a personal relationship with the Creator? God draws close to all that desire to me close to him. All things require order. As in man's government, we have a president, senator, representatives and citizens. So why can't God have his government? God is the head of this world. Jesus is our reigning king. Man is the leader of the family household and instructions were given to him to love his wife as himself. Given this arrangement to household throughout you will see that there are happy families. I'm a woman, and I allow my husband to be the head of the household and he loves me as his wife and for the past twenty-two years we have remained friends. No, I'm not some old woman, I married in my early teens, my choice, not due to a pregnancy and I'm still happy because I apply God's word to my life.

Let me answer your question with another one:
Are women the ones that would hunt and fish for the food, and guard their family?
If you read your Bible it doesn't put women down, just look at Ruth, and Esther, Mary, Sarah, etc...
The Bible brings women up, so that they can know the history of every thing. Men wrote it because the women didn't have the time or the courage.

Which Bible are you reading from? The one on Mars?Ever hear of a lady named Deborah? She was the Judge of Israel at the time(President)She had a general named Barak and he wouldn't even go to war without Deborah with him, that's how weak she was...and how about Jael the wife of Heber? When a bad guy came to their tent she put a spike thru his coconut so hard it pinned him to the ground. How about Lydia a self made business woman in Thyatira ? Paul counted on her for help she was in no way subserveant to him.and for the last example the husband and wife preaching team of Aquila and Priscilla, partners all the way.Ok how about one more for the road ,Rahab, she lived in Jericho. She hid two Hebrew spys at the risk of her own life and God rewarded her,by saving ,not only her but her whole family and extended family.Pretty weak women eh?

Christ didn't have much to say about the role of women and men. That is because the people at the time were not ready to believe in equality.
Fundamentalists keep on pushing the "epistles" of Paul which are really "church letters" and not at all scripture which is characteristically written in parables.

But the Godly women, such as Sara, Rebeca, Leah, and Mary, did not view themselves as second class citizen.
They were honored to be part of God arrangement and household, having godly fearing, and loving husbands.
Man his head of the house just as a all are under his subjection. Man's head is Christ, and Christ head is God.
It is our imperfections that have brought us these problems.
But Love covers a multitude of Sin.
When you read how Christ treated his apostles and disciples, he set a patter for them to follow.
And we can also read how he treated women, with respect and dignity.
Men today who do not abuse their headship and women who do not try to upsurged it, have happy marriages that last.

Ok, I have to respond to this because I have told so many men that they have lived sooo long and still they don't get it! Jesus was born of a woman, He talked to women and treated them as well as he treated men, He appeared first to a woman when He arose form the tomb..... but still the men didn't believe her. They just don't get it, we are not second class citizens and they will have to explain themselves and their attitude not to us but to God.

No, God is not sexist. He just created women to have children and such and men to work and provide. Think about it, women didn't have to have a job, all they had to do was clean, cook, and have the kids. That's not too terrible. Both genders have a role.
