I am fully aware the word "religion" is not in the bible. I'm asking a question-not looking to be preached too.

Being Catholic, I am also aware of the split of the eastern churches-the Orthodox. But, Orthodox is slightly different, thus it's own religion.

Given that Martin Luther was the guy who nailed that piece of paper on the church door, "Lutheranism" seems to be the right answer!

Point of correction (with sincere respect), Orthodoxy and Western Catholicism are the same age approx. There was a Great Schism where they parted company; both existed together and the differences that led to their divorce had been latent for centuries. As to the question, there had been attempts at reformation(s) pre-dating the Augustinian Luther but all had failed until the Lutheran Reformada. Historically speaking, Northern German Lutheranism would be the oldest (still existing) Protestant Reformation. I hope that I have been of some use here.

Lutheran is not protestant. The protestant traditions actually DID protest against what the Catholics taught while Lutherans accepted the teachings that the Catholic church had BEFORE it began adding to it other doctrines like purgatory and such things.

The protestants protested foundational doctrines like Baptism, the Lord's Supper and the like.

The Catholic church once held the same teachings as the Lutherans on all doctrines until Pope after Pope began making incramental changes.

Protestantism comes with Zwingli and Calvin, not Luther.

Lutherans probably...but there have always been those who did not bow to the man invented cult of the roman "church".

The Church of which Jesus The Christ is The Head is The Only Church and those who make up The Body of The Church are known as those of The Christian Faith. This True Church is from the first Pentacost Day following Christs Ascention

Protestant Reformation started with Martin Luther

Remember that the word religion is not in the Bible, neither is Protestant, Roman Catholic, Orthodox, Jesus uses the term, "true believer and follower"

its man who has created these names

come to think of it, I think the first person to bring a reformation was Jesus

Probably Lutheran. Martin Luther pretty much started the Protestant Reformation, anyway.

Wycliffe and Huss predate Luther by almost a century.

St. Augustine from 5th century was the basis of Calvin & Luther's protests against the Catholics, so the first reformer was a Catholic as well, about 1,000 years before both of them.

Lutheran if you ask me unless you want to look into this phrase on the internet - "Erasmus laid the egg that Luther hatched."
