Literally, a missing of the mark, according to the Hebrew and Greek Bible texts. God himself sets the "mark" that his intelligent creatures are to reach. Missing that mark is sin, which is also unrighteousness, or lawlessness. (Romans 3:23; 1 John 5:17; 1 John 3:4). Sin is anything not in harmony with God's personality, standards, ways, and will, all of which are holy. It may involve wrong conduct, failure to do what should be done, ungodly speech, unclean thoughts, or desires or motives that are selfish. The Bible differentiates between inherited sin and willful sin, between an act of sin over which a person is repentant and the practice of sin.

Romans 5:12 tells us that threw 1 man sin entered into the world and all men have sinned.
It is a physical state we all are born into. That is why we grow old and die. The wages sin pays is death.
But God gave us hope, threw Jesus death on the torcher stake.
And durring Chirst 1000 year reign over the earth, mankind will once again become perfect.
But it is going to take a lot of love, time and work to do so.

sin is what the Bible mentions as sin. there are some sins in the Bible that were abolished by the new laws that Jesus had set forth, therefore we do not have to sacrifice animals or be afraid to eat pork...

then again, though, it says to not make a lesser brother stumble. so if you know a christian guy who thinks it's wrong to eat pork because of what the Bible says and you eat it, you just ruined your witness to him because you've shown disregard for his convictions. also, if he continues to think it's a sin after seeing that and you somehow convince him to eat some bacon with you, you have just caused him to sin. (because in his own eyes, he had made a covenant with God not to do it and he still did).

here's some examples from my life. twice in my life i made a promise to God that i would wait a year to date. the first time, a guy i knew (and kind of liked) kind of wooed me into wanting to date him before the year was up. i'll take responsibility for my part, but i don't think i would have been so into the idea had he not been hounding me about it. so i break my promise to God. at the moment i decided to be more than friends with him, i sinned. not only did i break my promise but it was like i lied.

the second time, i was in love with my best guy friend. yet this man was a true man of God, and even though he mat have liked me at the time, he wouldn't send any more signals than a friend would. that year i didn't date frustrated me in more ways than one, but i was fully committed to doing God's will because of it. i grew into an entirely new person by the end of it (still me, but new and improved) and ironically, my best guy friend sorta asked me out.

now before he did this, i had resolved to not kiss on the lips until i got married. he had made the same promise to God. to most people, it's not a sin to date or to kiss the guy your'e dating on the lips. but if me and my boyfriend had done it, it would have been a sin.

so partly it's up to where you're at with God, but there are also places where it's black and white (for instance, having sexual relations with animals:SIN!)

Jas 2:9 But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.
Jas 2:10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.
1jo 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
Ro 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
Ro 6:15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.
Ro 6:16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

My whole self.

Original sin as the Bible teaches it, is the foundation of all sin that is within us. It is not a certain act or thought, it is the basis by which all of our "actual" sins derive.

1. Deliberate disobedience to the known will of God.
2. A condition of estrangement from God resulting from such disobedience.

No such thing. If you break the law you've committed a crime. If you go against your own principles you hurt your own self.
