do you still have your tonsils? if so, see a doctor, if they become inflamed all the time the best way to go might be a tonsilectomy. if you don't have your tonisls anymore, you might have an antibiotic resistant infection, please see a doctor about that too. if it's neither of these things, be careful with your voice, only speak when you have to and whisper rather than shout. keep your throat warm at all times, breathe through your nose and drink warm liquids to keep it moist and warm. you can also get soothing throat sprays and gargle solutions, like camomile or grapefruit pip extract. there are also lots of homoeopathic remedies out there, ask a pharmacist. a wonderful - and yummy - home remedy is having a spoon of thick honey mixed with a few drops of lemon juice three or four times a day, it soothes the thrpat and helps clear up the infection.

Try gargling with salted water several times a day and buy some of those citrus hard candies to eat during the day to keep your throat moist.

As mentioned, luke-warm salt water DOES help a sore throat. Additionally, for pain relief, you can drink tea with honey.
