Anticipate what's ahead, start slowing down earlier and coast rather than braking, especially where speed limits change.

If the light's red, take your foot off the gas right away. No point in guzzling gas just so you can sit at the light a few seconds longer.

Use moderate acceleration - don't floor it, but don't accelerate as slow as that semi next to you either.

Learn the timing of the traffic lights and adjust your speed well in advance so that you can avoid stopping at the light at all.

If the lights are synchronised, learn what speed you should drive to get all greens.

Don't merge so fast that you have to brake when merging. Approach a bit slower than the traffic, find a space that's coming, and accelerate into it.

In a traffic jam, try to roll at a slow but steady speed rather than starting and stopping all the time - you'll notice this is what most truckers do.

If you're sitting at a long light (or railway crossing or whatever), pop the transmission into neutral to take a bit of load off the engine.

mix 3 ounces of asatone to every 10 gallons of fuel. Keep asatone in a container and mix in that to prevent asatone from evaporating then put into tank. Is Very safe. May sound like BS but works use it in my own car.

Cut out the bottom and run like Fred Flintstone.

Just kidding...

I have heard maintaining a constant speed can help. It really depends on what your commute is like, highway is better, with fewer stop and go's.

Stay at around 55-60 MPH, cars are most efficient at that speed. Drag increases by the "square" of the speed. So when going 110MPH(not that you would) your car has 4 times the air drag than when driving at 55MPH.

Tire inflation. Easy on that gas pedal...and as some would say, drive slower. Also, pull some junk out of the back you don't need.

I watched a tv news magazine show that rated different devices that are sold to improve gas mileage - AND NONE OF THEM WORKED!

Take it easy when you brake, don't speed too much. Other than that maybe carpooling with some other peopel so that you can take turns.
