My Boyfriend is LDS and recently he asked me if I would start going to church with him, ( this Sunday to be exact ) myself I don't know much about the religion but I am very interested in learning about it. I was never brought up to be any specific religion, so any input will really help alot. Thanks!

If you go to the website www.lds.org and click on the "Basic Beliefs" section it would probably be very helpful to you. That is the official website of the Church!

If you listen to all the negative answers about the LDS church, you are going to be confused. I have been LDS my whole life and love being a member. We mainly beleive that we are on this earth to be tested and be able to return to our Heavenly Father again someday, when we die. We also don't do certain things, like smoke, drink, drugs, sex before marriage and some other stuff, to keep us clean and happy. We are led by the prophet Gordon B. Hinkley, who is led by God. Marriage is very sacred, and alot of things cannot be discussed, but worthy members of the LDS church can be married in the temples, in order to be together for all eternity. We know life does not end after death, and we can be with our families forever. Those are a few things but you can go to www.lds.org to learn alot more. You really should go to church with him. Not because I want you to be converted right away, but you should go check the church out.

My daughter dated a non-LDS young man and attended some of his church services with him, but he wouldn't come with her to church. She is now interested in another young man who is not LDS, but he is a super nice guy and she is hoping he will come with her. When things are important in your life you want to share it, so it is an honor for him to want to share the gospel with you!
I joined the church when I was 30, had one child and pregnant with another. I also was not brought up in any specific religion, so it was all new to me.
Your young man must have qualities you appreciate and respect, and many of those qualities come from his family and from following church guidelines. There is a little pamphlet called "For the Strength of Youth." Ask him if he has one or could he get one for you. The youth in the church are encouraged to carry it with them at all times to help them remember their standards. You may find it interesting.
You don't say how old you are, but if you are under 18 you will go into the Young Women's meeting. After that you will go into Sunday School together. We have Sacrament meeting last, but some may have it first. This is the more reverent meeting with the sacrament being served, followed by about 3 spiritual talks given by a youth and 2 adults.
Don't be afraid, LDS people are usually very friendly.
If you really want an interesting visit, ask him if you can go to church with him on the first Sunday of the month. This is the Fast and Testimony meeting, and members of the congregation go to the podium as they feel the prompting and share their testimony. Some people go on and on, but there are also some very touching testimonies.
I hope you enjoy your visit, and please know that members of the Church are not cultist, polygamists, sexist, or wacko (well...some :) . Most importantly, remember that the true name of our church is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. This is Christ's church, and we do believe in him and his gospel. We do use the Holy Bible, as well as another testament, The Book of Mormon. We believe both are the word of God.
Ask your boyfriend to also show you the Articles of Faith (see if he can find them in his scriptures!) This is Joseph Smith's account of what we believe in the church and pretty much covers everything!
I know this is long, but allow yourself to relax and listen (and sing...we sing a bit in our church....little kids visiting call it the Singing Church!) Sometimes the spirit testifies to us when we aren't expecting it!
Enjoy!

Good for you for trying to expand your mind. The LDS church is also known as the Mormons or The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Here are two of their websites. I have a couple of LDS friends and have had some teaching by their visiting Missionaries. I found all of it very interesting. I like learning about different religions.

Here you go:

talk to him about his beliefs not us. The Mormon religion is just like any other religion they have good and bad people. The religion can be more strict than some of the chirstian religions but it all depends on how much you want to go with what you are taught. If you are interested in going then go, and then figure out for yourself if you believe or not. I have personal issues with the Latter Day Saints but I just don't like their history, I've known some Mormons who were great people and others that are not.

Wow- people are pretty scared of you being brain-washed or something! That is very silly. I have been married for 6 years, my husband is very loving and wonderful...women are not "inferior" or less important or anything, we are equal, especially in marriage. Men do hold the Priesthood, but that is what God has set forth, so not a big deal if women don't, I feel anyways. I am glad my husband is the Priesthood holder in my family! It is a big responsibility.
You can go to LDS.org and read our basic beliefs but I can tell you some.
We believe in Heavenly Father (and Mother), Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost. We believe we can be sealed to our families forever in God's holy temple. We believe we are all literally sons and daughters of God. We believe in 3 kingdoms or degrees of glory after this life. We are taught to love everyone, abstain from immoral acts, have high family values, and obey the Word of Wisdom. (By the way, polygamy is not practiced any longer - people who still think that are misinformed). It is not a scary or controlling religion, it is wonderful and every "rule" is specifically for our benefit.
Any more questions, I would love to chat.

This course you on on is about you and in no way your boyfriend. He does no longer result your concept in God in any respect. He for sure does no longer appreciate this, so do no longer assume him to comprehend it. i wager the actual question is: is that this the guy you want to be the authentic of your homestead? is that this the guy you want for the daddy of your little ones? Will this guy unify your homestead in a difficulty-loose faith? If the answer to any of those is, No, then you definately want to bypass your separate strategies. My husband and that i have been courting after I joined the church. We lived the regulation of Chasity with out concern because we had an analogous targets...to get married contained in the temple. in case you 2 do no longer have an analogous targets, step back and detect a significant different that you do have that with. yet be warned, he will be mad probably. yet, your relationship with Heavenly Father is a lot more desirable significant. sturdy success and .....PRAY!!!

I was in the same situation... exactly. I was raised Christian, but never one specific religion and my bf invited me to church. Not to say this will happen to you, but it all worked out great for me! We fell in love. I grew to love the church and converted. We got married in the temple and have been happy ever since. :)

Why not? Give it a shot :) Have fun.

Well what religion if any are you?

Are you strong enough to go to church with him and not let them put something in your head, that might not be true?

That with most religions as well.

You have to read the bible for yourself, and form your own opinion about the passages in the bible.
