Nero has little to do with it! You first need to find out what file types your burner supports! Burning is a complicated issue! There are only a dozen different movie file types. You must also take into consideration whether you want to view the movies on other dvd units. DVD-R is in my opinion the best blank because DVD+R can be stubborn and wont work in many units. Once you determinw what file type is best for your uses, its a matter of setting nero to burn in that format. Keep in mind also, Bens Bargain Blancs dont cut it! Yuo are money ahead buying name brand blanks! I have found as many as 30 percent of the bargain brands to be defective! You will spend lots of time scratchin your bum tryin to figure out whats wrong and it will usually be that cheap disc! As someone else stated tho, unless you have a DVD burner you wont burn dvd anything!

If you downloaded a video clip from the internet and want to make it into a DVD, you can use a DVD-R or DVD+R (the RW's will not work in a household DVD unit so avoid those for movie watching).

Then, you need to look for a part of nero called NERO VISION EXPRESS, its a video burner. You simply drag the video clips you want into the program and tell it to burn.

The next step (which should happen automatically) is where the software takes your video clip and ENCODES it, and often times it will have to adjust the size while doing so in order to get it on the disk.

Once the encoding is done (and this can take an hour or more depending on the speed of your system) then it should start the burning process, which with any luck should only take a few minutes to a half hour depending on the speed of the burner you have.

Also if you have a 16x DVD burner, you could use up to the 16x disks. If you get an 8x disk, it will take twice as long to burn...and so forth.

Also check out www.dvdshrink.org for another program that may help you encode video files (and it can also initiate the burn process)...its a free program and you may find it useful.

First question, are you sure you have a DVD burner and not a CDRW burner. If you have a DVD burner, then you are all set. If you want to burn DVD movies I would recommend the DVD-R discs that are single layer 4.7gigs. In Nero at the top of the program there should be a drop down menu. If you have a DVD burner, you will be able to change the drop down menu to DVD. By default it is more than likely CDRW. Furthermore, once you get the drop down menu to DVD you need to find the icon for "copy and backup" -(Burn image to disc). Then you will search your computer for where the files are located and open them. Next screen you should see how much of the DVD is allocated for the movie. That is, a bar should indicate how many megabytes are being used. As long as you stay within the "green"
you will be fine. If the graph goes red then you have filled up the DVD beyond its capacity. Once you check that hit "burn." Then wait for the DVD to be burn.. Hope that helps..

Check the specifications on the booklet that came with the DVD Burner, IT IS A DVD BURNER, ISN'T IT? It will tell you on the front of the optical drive, it should say something like RW DVD ReWritable, etc. If it's just a ROM, then you cannot, it will only read the DVD's and Play them, the Burner is what's needed. Your paperwork that came with the DVD Rom will tell you the type Burner, and the Disc that are compatible. Good Luck

first what you need to do look at the drive itself on the frount of the drive it will be writen their and that will tell you what kind of burning it will do. then you get the disks that will make that passable. then with nero you put in a blank disk and a wizzard will pop up and all you would have to do is follow the on-screen instuctions, and you will be burning in no time.

I have the same set up and I was told that you have to have additional software to burn them onto DVD+R and you can get it on the internet.
