Yes. The humane society. I do not believe in buying animals from anywhere else. DONT GET ME WRONG. I really want a french bulldog but there are so many pets out there who need homes and there is always going to be people purchasing expensive dogs. I have been to the society looking for specific dogs and they always have great dogs. Sometime they are even full bred. Well I have seen pit bulls at the one by me. I would at least look there first, but if not...http://www.pbrc.net/ try this site first... They teach you EVERYthing you need to know about pit bulls and they have some for adoption!

Pits are a dime a dozen, you will be able to get just about any one you want with that kind of money.
But you are going to have to use their proper name,
I don't care for Pits, so I don't know their official name.
There is something about the Pit not being an official breed or some such, out of my field of knowledge.
Sorry

NOTE to torbaynewfs: Good Lord, I wish you would stop calling people idiots for purchasing a dog off the internet.
I am as careful with my bloodline as you are, I am just unable to show and don't sell my dogs exclusively as show dogs. I am in a small town and the buying market is very slim. I sell on line. I sell so few puppies I can back each sell up with a reference from the owner. Believe it or not, there are exceptions to the never sell online crap!!!!!

It's not a good idea to pick out a dog for some one else. Your girlfriend should be the one to pick out the dog. Please make sure that she's ready and you're ready to take on the responsibility of another living creature. If she decides this is what she wants ,then the both of you go to pick out your dog. Adult dogs are already house broken and have a tempermant set already should you choose to go through the humane society . Or try PBRC or Per Finder. They've been tempermant tested. The adoption fees usually are under 200.I would never go through the paper. You have no idea of what you are getting. You have to be careful and make sure your dog or pup is coming from a reputable place. Please make sure before you get a pup or dog that you also can even have a Pit Bull. Many places don't allow them , and many cities they are banned or have very strict restrictions. These are all factors you need to check out before getting your dog.

Try your local shelters. There are many Pits that have already been temperment tested ect. Also your girlfriend should be the one to pick out the dog. Give her a puppy 'gift basket' instead...leash, collar, dog bed as the gift itself and then have her pick the dog out... I really think that your local humane organization will have the right dog for you. Also check with her county and landlord (if she doesnt own) for allowable breeds and requirements for registering a Pit Bull. Many counties or cities have restrictions for certain breeds of dogs. It would really suck to get her a dog and then 1. she doesnt like that one 2. really isnt ready for the committment of a dog 3. get the dog, like the dog, and then have to get rid of the dog....see where I am going with this?

for the girl who wants a french bulldog try http://www.frenchbulldogrescue.org/

www.petfinder.com
On this website you can look up a specific breed in the shelters within a certain radius according to your zip code too.

Yes!!! Adopt a nice dog who desperately needs you and the home you will provide from a humane society or shelter in the area where you live. It will make you happy in more ways than you could ever imagine! Best of luck to you and your new companion :)

No, no, no! no longer a sturdy theory, oftentimes. i recognize wolves as a lot because the subsequent human being, yet no wild animal must be saved in a kin significant different and little ones. no longer a sturdy theory in any respect. Why do not you seem on your community preserve for a wolfish searching dogs (how about a agouti/wolfgray colored husky or a silver/sable German shepherd?) truly and go away the wild animals the position they belong?

I suggest that you go down to your local animal shelter, you're not guranteed to get the breed of your choice, but its much cheaper to get a dog from a shelter, and also you are giving them a much better quality of life.

Go adopt one from a pound/shelter. Probably <$100. Tada. Saving an animal AND saving money.
