yes, dark soda's generally contain caffiene where as lighter sodas such as seven-up and squirt do not contain caffiene. Caffeine is related to the formation of kidney stones since it is a diuretic and causes your kidneys to work harder. Also, many heavy caffeine drinkers substitute caffeine for adequate water intake and insufficient water intake is a major cause of kidney stones. Some sodas that are not dark do contain mass amounts of caffeine, though, so beware. Mountain Dew and even Sunkist Orange pop contain a lot of caffeine.

Dark sodas contain more phosphorus and calcium than lighter colored sodas. Calcium is one of the main ingredients of kidney stones. I'd actually be more concerned with your serum calcium level. Check with your MD first and avoid the sodas until you get your blood tested.

I couldn't just sit around and do nothing like my doctors suggested.

They didn't want me to do anything or to take herbs or herbal remedies, but I had to try something - they just wanted me to do dialysis!

This program allowed me to take control of my health. I went from Stage 4 to Stage 3 kidney disease.

It was easy to do and my BUN, creatinine and anemia are all in better ranges.

The fact that you said cola instead of soda will probably give me eye cancer before that even happens. What do I have to lose?
