See if you can locate an animal chiropractor in your area, or a regular chiropractor who will work on canine patients.

An alternative to having surgery is Gold Bead Implants. There is much on the web about this. I took my girl to Dr. Dukes in Marion, Ind. He is the inventer of the procedure. There are others around the country who also do it. My girl had had 2 broken disks in her back before I got her. The calcification was pressing on nerves causing severe pain. She was on Deramaxx for several months before the implants. She did not need any pain meds after having the implants done. It is an out patient procedure. Surgery was not an option for my girl. All the vets could say was pain meds for the rest of her life. She was only 17 months when we found all this out. I believe that the implants would be cheaper and I know that they work! Gold Bead Implants are a permanent form of acupuncture.

One of my greyhounds has neck problems which caused him to yelp a lot. He went for acupuncture treatments over a year ago and hasn't had a problem since. He had a total of 4 treatments (laser not with needles), as well as a couple of chiropractic treatments because his spine was out as a result of him compensating because of the neck pain. He's been good now for about 1 1/2 years, not needing additional treatments. That may be worth your while to try.

You might see if there is a veterinary acupuncturist in your area. I met a lady who couldn't afford surgery and went to the vet acupuncturist and her dachsund has been pain free for 5 years.

Good luck to you.
