If a supreme being knows everything about the universe and beyond, and its power can not be measured by number and human understanding, this being then is truly a God in every aspect of the word. But what I don't understand is, why he needs us? If he is a truly an omnicient being, he doesn't need to be loved, he doesn't need to be praised and certainly he doesn't need to be worshipped just to boost his ego. He doesn't need to be reminded because he knows everything, then why we have to pray for our forgiveness and wishes in life, if he truly does. If that so, do you think, everything is pointless now. You know, why bother?

I need you guys to think for moment without the influence of your beliefs. Use your God-given brain to ponder this subject carefully. I hope I won't see any quotes from the Bible, Quaran, etc. unless it is written by God himself.

You yourself have just exhibited the very trait of God.

You have a brain just like everyone of us, you can reason and satisfy yourself on your own beliefs. Why do you then put up the topic for discussion? You could have concluded your findings all by yourself, within your own observations and reasons and no one would stop you.

When you have had an interesting experience, heard a humorous joke or enjoy a great meal at a restaurant, why do you want to share that experience with someone? Why not just keep it to yourself?

If you were God - the closest earthly experience is parenting. You create a baby (so to speak, although your participation in the process had be overly simplified). Why do you bother to bring up the baby? You know so much more than the baby and the baby is 100% dependent on you? You are supreme. What goes on in the parents' minds? What drives them? There is an inexplicable force to father or mother the child. Parents have high hopes for their children and loved them dispite their weaknesses. They invest time and money on their children. When the children grows up, and in appreciation, thank their parents, how does that make the parents feel?

These are some of the hints about the Creator which you may wish to ponder over.

I believe you need to know what we are saying in our faith since faith and intelligence work hand in hand to understand God.
However, you unwittingly created a problem for yourself. You will never understand the answer to your question unless you are humble enough to take what is given and study it. I mean if you ask for the reason of "why" in our worship to God and if it is not in the form you like, then you disregard it. So, how are you ever going to understand the answer? That is not the tact you wish to proceed if you want answers. Think about it, If you ask a religious question do you expect a non-religious answer? Does that make any sense? Until you take and study the language of religions, then you will be given plenty of answers, but too stubborn to accept them because they are not according to your personal standard. Religions are not according to personal standards nor is the faith they teach. Each is for a people, a community, and therefore being TOO focused on the individual would only cause great turmoil in any religion.
To at least put you on the right track. God truly needs nothing from us. However, we need everything from Him. Worship is a proper response to a Being who brought us into existence. He who made us something from nothing and blessed us in His image and likeness (we are someone). I think that Being deserves worship as the highest response of gratitude and love for Him. It is a "relationship" we have with God and not a matter of bartering. May the Lord bless and keep you. May He let the light of His face shine upon you.

I don't think it is pointless to worship a God. However I do think it pointless to worship something you don't believe in. Do not worship something just because others do. I don't practice my faith but I follow my own personal code of honour. Even if God doesn't exist to judge us does it mean we must just abandon our own existance. Destroy what little time we have by corrupting our lifes and those who share it with us. What is pointless is not bothering and losing yourself instead of making the most of what you have and making others doubt themselves. Some people need a God because they are not strong enough to comphrend the fact that perhaps life is completely random without a great plan or meaning and that the only certainty is death.

i for my area think of that worshiping God is not sensible, the clarification being that i do no longer think in him. Our fascination with a 'greater being' dates lower back to the 1st gentle of guy; we only won't be able to get our heads around the fact that existence by way of this is totally nature is chaos. Human nature makes us choose for to have confidence there is somebody gazing over us and that this presence is spectacular. Why no longer purely permit the tremendous thing relating to the universe take our breath away? the single element that maximum prepared religions have in user-friendly is the messiah determine, courting as a approaches lower back because of the fact the Egyptians with Horus. all the Messiah's have various issues in user-friendly, as an occasion : virgin births angels advised their moms they have been coming achieved rose from the lifeless after 3 days... The checklist is going on. i might spend it sluggish taking part in the wonders of the universe than some legendary father determine who will chastise you for being undesirable. To sum it up, easily faith is not sensible.

God doesn't need humans; any god who needs anything is not a god. People's religious nature is one of those anthropological constants; people have been worshipping what they perceive are gods since humans stopped dragging their knuckles on the ground.
The monotheistic Three (Judaism, Christianity, Islam) recognize that God does not need humanity, but because God is good, God invited relationship with humanity, and their acceptance of that relationship takes the form of worship, liturgical ritual, prayer, almsgiving, and the like. God needs none of this, these things are participatory elements which enable humans to feel a communion with God. These things are for us. It's necessary, when we screw up, to seek forgiveness, not because God doesn't forgive, but because people usually don't. Right relationship with other people reflects our understanding of the good God, so when those relationships are damaged, it is important to restore them. Praise and worship are a response of thanks for the gift of relationship God has extended to humanity.
Sorry this included some beliefs; we can't step outside of our faith wiothout sacrificing the essence of our responses to these questions.
Best of luck.

He needs us? No - but he loves us and that's a whole different thing. Worship is not about how much God needs - it's about how awesome God is. Relationship has 2 sides.

I believe in ideas and dreams and use them, so technically I don't worship anyone. I just believe in myself and try to discover what I don't know but still believe there are many mysterious things to try to understand. If we want to lump those things together in a word called god, i don't care.

Good question. I respect your comments, and I hope that my side of the story will make sense to you. I believe that God was lonely. He created Adam and Eve to be company with Him to have fellowship/friendship with them. When Adam and Eve sinned against God, it really broke His heart. God is perfect and cannot allow sin into heaven. It's like the fact that we can't let someone with measles into a nursing home, you just can't do it. So, God wanted to make a way for us to be with Him forever because of how much He loves us. He sent His OWN son to die in our place for our sins. All we need to do is accept that gift.

God doesn't need us to boost His ego. God doesn't need us to remind Him of His all-powerful-ness. He's done so much for us, that it's only natural for us to be thankful. And he already knows all of our wished and desires, but sometimes He just likes us to ask, just so that He knows we haven't forgotten Him. My life is for God's glory because He's done everything for me. It's not that God needs us...the better statement to answer your question is...we need God.

Stop questioning our beliefs. You say we're trying to push "religion" down your throat but you are also trying to change our minds by posting things like this.
