White is the combination of all colors of light, but there are more or less than seven colors. Actually, there is a practically infinite gradation. There are three primary colors, and they blend to form three more tertiary colors. Seven doesn't work out here. The colors on the spectrum are given in Art classes as red, orange, yellow, green, blue and violet. What did you add?

For some reason I think Newton forgot something. He failed to emphasize that the room has to be dark(black). Without talking about the "properties of light" reacting differently than pigments. From a religious standpoint everything came from darkness. Not the other way around so if all colors of the visible spectrum combine to make white well...does this mean the bible's wrong?
If you were in a room with green light and a green colored object it would be hard to see or totally camouflaged. What if the object was white? Wouldn't it take on the appearance of green also? What if the object was black? Since the white object is absent of color it appears green. The black object is the combination of all colors therefore it stands out. In a black room we cant see separate objects because they are all effectively camouflaged.
Websters dictionary says the color white is absent of color. There is a contradiction here which requires further study.

This structure of a prism is such that it disperses white gentle into ingredient hues. Rain drops disperse gentle with the help of total inner mirrored image (TIR) thereby generating rainbow. Our eye lens isn't of the shape which could disperse gentle. Eye lens kinds a pointy, actual and inverted image on the retina, the retina communicates this image to the mind with the help of the optic nerve. wish that helps :)

White light.
Combining all these wavelengths will put together all the pieces of "visible" light into its natural color... White.
