No, Guiness is a beer. A great beer at that, but one of those acquired tastes. Took me a while before I started to enjoy having a pint or two. Beer is made from grains and some beers use grains and hops, which is a plant. So, I guess you could say beer or Guiness comes from two food groups: grains and vegetables (but I've never heard of anyone eating hops, smoking it, yes, not eating).
Well, if you see any of these pregnant women in Ireland "inhaling" Guiness, give them a non-alcoholic beer and say it will get them drunk as hell. I can't think of any at the moment cuz I don't drink them.
