If you take 395 North you will go right past Mammoth and June Lake. If they have snow, that would be a better place to do what you want. Lake Tahoe has deep enough snow generally by christmas, not thanksgiving. That would be Utah for thanksgiving skiing. But every year is different, watch the weather for a month prior if your set on Tahoe. The best skiing experience is Snow Basin, one of the higher peaks in the Area. Squaw Valley has some great runs and may have the upper tram open. Tou would stay in Truckee for these places. Then there is Heavenly south of the lake with views of the lake as you ski and also of Nevada. We expereince extremes in the weather at that time, so if you book a suite in a Reno casino, you can take the ski bus anywhere and pay sixty bucks a night with shorts weather sometimes and lots of good nightlife.

nicely, it fairly relies upon on what you opt to do. The north interior reason suburban and is ringed with vacation homes, alongside with some inns and condo condominiums. The south has fancy inns, many previous kind inns, vacationer traps, and glitzier casinos. Neither end is exactly distant nor isolated. you could stay at one end and do issues on both section. What adventures do you've in techniques? you could boat, you could fish, you could hike, camp, and hunt (for fishing and looking out examine regulations and seasons) contained in the encircling nationwide wooded area. you could bypass over to Nevada and excursion the historic city of Genoa; you could also force in the time of quite the "sagebrush ocean" and excursion historic ghost cities in both California and Nevada.

There is not much to do except for snow sports, scenery and gambling.
