Dads really don't need anything but if your dad likes a good wine after dinner you could pick that up. If he is a fan of a certain actor you can get a few DVDs for him. No ties or socks. Think about who he is and I am sure you will pick something really nice. Good Luck.

For instance, my dad likes photography so I sometimes buy him something he could use for that purpose.
