God. Forgetting to pray to God or bring God up for a long period of time?

If so, what brought you back to God?

And did you have to go through a wild break down?

Anthony, What new way did you find your faith. Jesus is the Way, Truth & Life.

KathrinB, I went through a wild breakdown and I was a total flake during this time. It lasted about a year. I believe I went through it because I fell away for 10 years. I am sure I am not the only one. That is why I am asking this question.

Damien, I don't think you were ever actually born of God. You need Jesus.

yes, I went away from the church and religion for about 4 yrs almost immediately after I got saved...I got saved in a Baptist church and water baptized. But I stopped going to church cuz I thought it was too legalistic and I felt like I was hopelessly sinful and could not please God, so I gave up. Then I did my own things and fell into a bad crowd.... When I was 20 I couldn't stand my life anymore because it seemed so empty - but NO, I never forgot about God. Even in my darkest moments I could still sense Him near me. I was at the edge of suicide and he pulled me back to him.....
So, then I went to a non-denominational church and got the baptism of the Holy Spirit and I was able to understand the bible when I read it and I never had a desire to live a sinful life again - although I still sinned of course. But I am justified and cleansed by Jesus and he will never lose me - and he never has.

I was save when I was twelve. I was water baptized. I was filled with the holy spirit at 16. I rebelled when I was 19. I occasionally went to church. I still believed in God. I knew what I was doing was wrong. God never gave up on me. About 4 years ago a very dear friend died. He had invited me to church. I never went until his funeral. That day I knew I was home. I came back to the Lord and have been going to that church ever since. God has done some amazing things for me since. I hope this helps you.
P.S. I will be 60 in three days.

I have been through it all and the only thing that has brought me back was from studying so hard when I first got saved. The word has taken root into my heart and life so I will not forget it. So when I do stray it isn't long before I am back in God's arms. Sometimes it had to take a slap in the face (something bad to happen) for me to remember who I am (child of God) and get right.

Yes, many years ago now there was a period of five years of my life, when I was not walking with God. I became a bitter person, and those five years were the most miserable years of my life. I felt empty inside.

God's Word which I had learned from a child, kept coming into my memory, and eventually little by little I allowed the Holy Spirit to soften my heart, and I came back into full relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. Ever since I have learned to guard my heart.

The Bible says 'Guard your heart - for it is the well-spring of life."
I do this daily ever since, because I never want to go back there.

God Bless you!

One of the hardest things for a teenager after being saved is to stay on the straight and narrow path of the Lord. It is not uncomon for the young in Christ to waver and stumble. That is what is called back sliding. But even through satan can lie and trick them into falling from their rightous path, he can never have their soul. God will always find His lost sheep and bring them home safely. Prayer is most important as well as daily scripture reading, to strengthen the spirit, faith, and walk with the Lord.

See Acts 5:14-24, this is an excellent example of what to do to come back to God. Verse 22, "Repent therefore of this your wickedness, and pray God if perhaps the thought of your heart may be forgiven you." God has a lot of patience.

I am on the tail end of my wild break down. I was what DC Talk would call a "Jesus Freak" and I was proud of it. I fell away due to my relationship with an old girlfriend. On the upside it has caused me to examine what I believe and why...it has actually reaffirmed many of my beliefs and caused me to question others.

Yes, saved when I was a young teen. I fell away from God, after watching TBN, and getting on the internet and reading about their lives, lies, and their money.

I found my faith again, but in a new way.

yes. I was raised to attend church for fellowship ( to be around others who attend church and to pray and give thanks) as I grew older I drifted away from my church and fell into sin for many years, as I remember my life sucked, and then it happen jail for over 8 years that's were it led me. well it didn't take long, I started back to church and did my best to follow the good book and change my ways soon my life got better and now is better than it has ever been. Remember God doesn't leave us we leave him and he is always there waiting for our return. amen.
