Yeah, Bulgarian is very similar to Bosnian/Serbian/Croatian, and can be roughly 80% I'd say, from personal experience, understood by speakers from there. I wouldn't really say that for Russians it's as easy, but you can pick out some words.
Like in the last few slavic posts, I've mentioned something called Slovio, an artificial language mutually understandable by all slavic language speakers, check it out.

I'm from Serbia, and I used to study Russian, so, because of some similarities of these languages and because Bulgaria is in Serbia's neighborhood, I can understand Bulgarian language!
