And you're sure it's normal to have to start it with a screwdriver?

Ask for a carfax report and ask to see any maintence records. If they say it was serviced at a dealer, get the VIN and go to the dealer your self and ask to see the service history, any good dealer will give you a print out of the history. If it was from out of state go to the car makes dealer and depending on the make (chevy, dodge, ford) they can jump on their companies website and check out the history. It will give you a lot of info. I always just by-pass the used car sales lot and go directly to the dealer to check it out. Make sure you see a copy of a vehicle safety inspection from who ever their mechanic shop is

Get a "feel" as to how the person drives, and how he takes care of things they have.
