My Uncle Chet was the greatest guy. I am not that religious, but most of my relatives are. About 15 people prayed to Jesus for him. He battled cancer for a year and a half. He had chemotherapy and was in much pain. Why did he have to suffer and then die?

I've asked a question pertaining to prayer, specifically "does prayer influence the decisions of the deity towards whom the prayers are directed?" and the responses were varied. Apparently they do influence the deity, but... get this... since god is "outside" of space and time, god already knew what you were going to pray for, so he mapped out his master plan with his "answer" to your prayer worked in as an integral component.

I still don't understand why this denotes the "influence" of prayer, though. Just because someone prays and god has an answer, that doesn't mean god actually gave a crap about the prayer. The possible answers are "Yes", "No" or "Other"... and I have yet to come across a competent, persuasive argument asserting that these "answers" are the result of anything other than divine whim.

So... in other words... God may not've ignored your prayer, but he also may not've given a crap about it when he answered it. That could be why god let Uncle Chet die.

Everyone must die at some time. For those we love, there is never a good time.
The questions you have asked are some that has puzzled men throughout the ages. There is another life waiting on the other side of death, and physical death is the only way we can enter that spiritural world.
When I have lost loved ones, I find it helpful to ask a different question. Instead of "Why did he have to die?", I try to ask "Why was I lucky enough to have him in my life all of these years?"
Think of the billions of us people who never had the opportunity to know your uncle. You have been blessed by his presence, love, and wisdom and we will never be touched by him in that way!
But, you will always remember him. You will continue to benefit from the example he set for you and the things he has taught you.
In one way, he is not gone, but he lives on in your heart and because he has given a part of himself to make you the person you are.
So, don't be bitter because he was taken away! Be thankful because he was given to you for so long! Live your life in a way that honors his memory. When someone notices you are "the greatest guy", just remember, you learned it from Uncle Chet.

Prepare yourself, for some day you will also follow him into eternity. I hope for you an eternity in heaven!

I know you miss Uncle Chet! I wish I knew him. I will pray for your comfort.

God healed your uncle and now he is free from his cancer. Praise the Lord!! Your uncle was so special, that God had to have him with him. We are in the final days of this world, and I praise the Lord for removing your uncle and having great mercy on him by taking Him now, so that he would not have to battle cancer as well as go through the tribulation we will all have to face in our lifetime.

I lost my sister when she was 33 years old to cancer. so I do know what you have been through. But I find solice and peace and comfort in knowing that my sister is in the company of the Lord now. She died a Christian and I so hope that you uncle died one too. It is when they die lost and they never accepted Jesus as their savior, is when we should be saddend by their death.

But through Acceptance of Jesus as our savior, we just leave our bodies and go onto an greater life in the kingdom of heaven. Jesus is there, and how awesome Heaven must be. Praise the Lord..

Father,
I lift up this family who has lost this loved one. I ask that you fill that void in their hearts with all the wonderful memories they have of thie wonderful uncle, and let them know that this separation is only temporary, and that they will see each other again when you call each one home according to your will and time. I thank you personally for healing this man of his cancer and taking all his pain away and making him whole again, when you brought him into glory with you. In the precious name of Jesus, amen

His will be done, don't question life my friend. It's His to give and His to take, blessed be the name of the Lord. Perhaps the Lord who is a jealous God wanted Chet for himself and that's his right. I know this, if that's the case then Chet ain't complainin now.

I am so sorry for your loss. God did not ignore your families prayers. God's will was done. He needed your greatest guy in heaven. Please don't let this turn you away from God. Now is when you need him the most. He can help heal your heart and turn your grief into something good. Perhaps volunteering at a Hospice so you can ease someone else's pain or help with questions. God loves you and will answer your questions. You just have to listen to your heart. God Bless and again my condolences.

God didn't ignore your uncle i am sure God loved him and needed him possible as another angel in heaven. I know it's hard but Maybe God didn;t want your uncle to suffer. I ask all the time why God took my uncle away he was murdered in his home by a bugler. I like to look up to the skys at night and think he is a star up their watching over us.

I'm sorry about your uncle, but God isn't obligated to fill your requests like a wish list.

God has a plan for each of us, and sometimes that plan just plain sucks.

I am sorry to say this. It was meant for him to be free from pain. Complaining to God is Okay if you have a valid point. But I guess everyone dies. Everyone goes to that stage we like it or not. It is just a matter of who's next to go.

Look, let me make this clear. If your uncle had survived, they would say it is a miracle, Now that he is dead, they say he is in a better place. What the heck? That is religion for you. They will always twist it. God or Jesus or Allah or Krishna or whoever it is had nothing to do with this whole thing.

It's not that God ignored prayers. It was your uncle's time to visit Jesus. I will pray for you and your family as you deal with your loss.
