there is a service that is offered on a land line. I can't remember what it's called but if you block the number there is a recording that tells the caller that you do not accept blocked calls and it the ID comes up as out of are or unknown you have to give your name and then your phone rings and plays that recording and you can accept or reject the call

Unfortunately NO.

These calls originate from either very large switchboards in this country, or from abroad, where the call data is not transmitted to our system.

In the USA you can buy a small device which you can attach to your phone, and when you see "unknown name, unknown number" or "withheld" you press the button and the caller hears a message telling them that you do not accept such calls, and that they must release their number in order to contact you.

sadly, these are not available here.

Yep! Press * 6 7 then dial the phone number as usual - - -your phone number will show up as restricted. This works on both land line and cell phones.

I'm not sure about that... But I know that you can block blocked numbers from coming through. Look in the front part of your phone book to see if there's anything you can do.

yeahhh...I love that feature...It is *67(star six seven). Punch this in, listen for the beep then dial your number. Try calling yours or a friends cell to make sure it works in your area first.

Try getting Call Management (or equivalent ) service. That's where any calls which show up as "unidentified" on your CallerID must announce to a recording who they are. When they do this, you have the choice to accept or decline their call. It worked great for me! Call your phone company.
