First you need to get laid-off from a real job and then when it looks like you can’t find any honest work…Just kidding.
Find a dealer that is willing to train you. A lot of dealers would rather hire a “green” salesman that does not have any bad habits and train you than hire one that has been “around the block a few times”. Be prepared to either lie & cheat or starve for the first little while. If you choose to lie & cheat, than also be prepared to be one of those salesmen that “go around the block a few times”. Liars and cheats can’t stay at the same place too long because too much heat builds up.
If you decide to take the honest road (yes there are some out there), it will take you a while to develop a style that you are comfortable with. Once you get good at selling without screwing people over, you can do very well as a salesman.

I made a commitment/promise to myself about 12 years ago that I would NEVER EVER lie about a vehicle to a customer. It was real Tuff going for the first few years, but once I developed my “sales style” it has become a real satisfying career. I make $110,000 a year and that's with taking 2 ½ months holidays a year.

There really is no education required. Its a people/sales job. If you can talk to people and make a sale youd be good at it. A great starting point would be a restaurant (sales/people). I actually just left my first job ever of 4 years at a restaurant to go work sales at a car dealership. They will train you for everything you need to know.

No education, you could easily start at a medium size sales lot or at a KIA, Hyundai dealer. Those places sometimes offer training. You need to be personable, able to public speak and have a clean cut appearance

Some dealers who are more reputable will train you at a smaller dealer if they own several of them. Some will throw you into the mix and say good luck

You have to be a good liar, you have to be pond scum, you will be required to stab anyone in the back for a dollar (inc your mother), drug addicts and alcoholics preferred, the less education and smaller brain the better.

A GED or h.s. diploma and training by the dealership. It doesn't take much. My husband used to be a car salesman before he became a preacher.....no jokes please!

Hell. If you don't have a conscience and could sell ice to an eskimo, go for it. It's a mean, unethical business.
