I left 2 frozen chicken breasts out to defrost while i was getting ready for work. I forgot to put it into the refrigerator before I left for work. I returned home 8 hours later. the chicken was still cold but no where near frozen when I got home... Is it okay to cook and eat the chicken? I don't want to get sick.

It should be ok, but the saying goes: "When in doubt, throw it out" I'd rather be out $5 for the chicken than get sick. Hope this helps :-)

All meat and poultry have some bacteria on it that can make you sick.

Cook it really well. There wasn't enough time for bacteria to produce the toxins.

However, if it was out for a very long time the bacteria would have time to produce toxins. These toxins are dangerous even after cooking.

Yes. I do that to defrost my chicken all the time. Tastes the same and I never got sick.

I usually cook chicken. It is the beef, fish, and the oysters, that I eat raw, in sushi.

Personally, I'd eat it (cook thoroughly!) but you don't want to know some of the things I eat. "When in doubt, throw it out!"

If in doubt, chuck it out.
That's the motto I live by :)

Although, if you cook it really really well, it should be enough to kill any bugs that have been bredding on it.
