well the Times list of good university's is probably one of the best to see which uni rates highest.
Note that any in Scotland are a year longer but you can enter into teh second year if you've got acceptable qualifications.
It depends what you want really but note whether campus based or not - campus based might be further from town on the other hand it's more likely to have a student feel than a non-campus uni in a big city.
Oxford cambridge & Durham are college based - can feel more involved with intercollegiate competitions, loyalty to a college etc
Also look up a bit about the city if you're interested in a uni - crime rates, some are worse than others.
Some university's will also offer more sports than others
Is the tutor system important to you - all unis have lectures but then how many pupils to a tutor? Because this is your only real face to face contact but you can always email lecturers questions.
One more thing - for your subject you'll want to know what facilities the department has like microscopes etc, how many people to a lab session & how many lab sessions you have a week.
hope this helps!

There are so many universities in the UK it would be difficult to know where to begin recommending them to you. Which ones you apply to mostly depends on your ability and grades. For example people with straight As usually apply to the likes of Bristol, Manchester, Newcastle, Birmingham, etc - and if they want to they might also apply to either Oxford or Cambridge.
If you're more of a B or C grade student you'd be better off applying to universities that don't require such high entry requirements. Which ones specifically that you apply to just depends on which you like - which city you think you'd like living in, which uni has accomodation you like, etc.
Here are the league tables compiled by the times newspaper, ranking universities by subject according to how well they did on government assessments: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/section/0,,6734,00.html
What do you mean nobody is helping you? Wow, what an ungrateful b*tch.

It really depends on what you want to study, different universities are good at different things, for instance Warwick and Bath are good for Maths; Birmingham is good for Pharmacy; Bristol and Liverpool are good for veterinary sciences. I would suggest you go outside London as it is very expensive, otherwise go onto the university sites and have a look. If you want to ask students about a university go onto the student room UK there is a message board you can ask questions on for most unis.

I did a year at Cardiff (not in halls ) and that was cool. Loads of students from all over and the uni is right by the shops, not out of town. I'm told Aberystwyth is good too, that is a seaside town and getting there is a bit fraught, but its nice enough if you wanted somewhere quieter in good surroundings.

newcastle university has a very good name for biology related studies, it also has a very good night life! the cost of living here is relatively cheap too(by uk standards anyhow) and the people here are much more friendly and accomodating than most city folk. only downside is as a foreigner it might take you a while to get the accent lol
heres their main webpage http://www.ncl.ac.uk/
their page for international students http://www.ncl.ac.uk/international/
and for biology http://www.ncl.ac.uk/biomed/
