i dont know youre states laws on firearm ownership. most states are very different. i used to live in illinois and to own any type of firearm there or to purchase or possess any ammunition you must have a valid firearm owners identification card. very easy to get if you have never had a felony or any domestic or violent crimes, they do a background check to make sure you are a decent person and a few weeks later issue you a license. but now i live in missourri and the laws here are much different. to buy a firearm here from a gunshop or any store they still run a background check. but to buy from an individual is no problem. and to buy ammunition here at any store as long as you look 21 or over no identification is needed. another big difference is in illinois even though you have a firearms card when you buy a gun they still check to make sure that you are still legal, and even after you have been approved to buy a firearm they still make you wait 24 hours for a long gun such as a rifle or shotgun. and you have to wait 48 hours after approval to pick up a handgun. but here in missouri if you buy a long gun (shotgun or rifle ) from a store and as soon as you get approved, it usually only takes a few minutes you can take it with you right then. but handgun laws are much different in missouri. to own a handgun in missouri you must get permission from the sheriff of youre county before you purchase one. you said in youre question (and dont tell me to stay away from guns!! ) im not telling you to stay away at all. but you really should stay within the local laws. in most cases it is a felony to own a firearm if you are not legally capable of that responsibility. if you really need protection but are not able to legally own a firearm then i would suggest other defensive weapons, such as a stun gun or baton or pepper spray. but also check youre local laws on that. what is legal to own in one county might get you thrown in jail in another because of local ordinances. im not trying to be rude, but if you are not able to legally own firearms then you should stay away from them. you can really go to prison for a very long time for posession of a firearm if you are not legally capable of owning one. and you seem kinda desperate to own a firearm. thats really bad. im not trying to stereotype anyone but i think that you dont have much experience in proper firearms handling. it is a very serious responsibility to own a firearm. mistakes happen alot with anything. but a mistake happenning with a careless or inexperienced firearm owner can be deadly. ok youre getting tired of me ragging about being responsible. i got my first real firearm when i was 13 years old. but my father made sure i passed a hunter and firearm safety course before i was ever allowed to ever go shooting on my own. and i had alot of target practice before that with my father at my side. a firearm is a weapon. but it is also a piece of sporting equipment for alot of people, such as me. its like a fishing rod or a bowling ball or a set of golf clubs. i shoot alot. but it is not to kill or harm anything. it is just a sport. it is nice to sit at a rest and shoot a 5 round group at 100 yards that i can cover with a dime. that doesnt happen very often. ok ive done my ragging. dont get a firearm if you are not legally and even more mentally capable of owning one.

it is a shame today that guns are given a bad name because of the liberals in this country.getting a legal gun is different from state to state.there is no federal law about buying a muzzle loading rifle/shotgun or a cap and ball revolver.most people dont want to waste time loading and cleaning them.i live in missouri where you can order them direct from cabelas. but some states have laws about them.you have to be 18 to order from them.

WHy would you post this online, your IP has been traced to your ISP. ISP has your name and address. So now if anyone you know ever has any trouble or is possibly evenassaluted they have you on record as looking for a gun illegally. You want protection? I reccomend a Lousville slugger and a Dog.

I don't really think you can get a gun without being licenced but you can always try to find somebody that you do know that will give you one not for free though. Are you trying to kill somebody?

You know you can't get a license to own one, why do you insist on it? Why not just learn a few self-defense measures then stay low-profile? Don't talk the talk if you can't walk the walk.
